Are spot on and a good assessment of tonight.

Still think he'll be gone though, possibly by Monday.

  • I hope so.....
  • I don't know whether is the right manager or even a good manager - but I sure respect the bloke.
If only the players had the same integrity?

But from what he himself is saying, it sounds like he knows he's about to walk the plank. I feel for him.

"They haven't said anything to me about the short-term or the long-term and if I do leave, I'll walk away with my head held high as I know I've done the job to the best of my ability and I'll continue to do that as long as I'm in charge.

Parkinson also revealed he would be looking to dip his toes into the transfer market when the window reopens in January - if still at the helm.

"It's fairly obvious that change needs to happen but until then we have to focus on this group and find a system and a starting XI that can win games in this Championship,” said Parkinson. "But whoever is in charge has to get the best out of this group of players until January.

I feel he'd turn the club round if he he had 3 months close season to re-organise.
    Shame. Right man, wrong timing.
  • can we rewind to just after coventry sack pards bring through parky and away we go ;o)

    Shame. Right man, wrong timing.

    Pretty much agree.

This club needs a serious mad man to step forward. A complete and utter lunatic.

Martin Allen is useless, Di Canio is the only nutter i'd consider at the mo.

Lets face it, there's little else to lose. Think of the fun we would have as he runs on the pitch to slap Nicky Bailey for not passing the ball 5 yds to feet !!

That isn't a Nazi salute, he is just 'stretching' to wave to the North Upper....
  • He'll need bloody long arms when there's only 8,000 in the ground ....

Its all about Di canio, we need that madness someone who can grab this club by its balls beat it into submission

NB - my complete support of Di canio has nothing to do with gettin 14-1 on him earlier, 20 quid well spent and will pay for the rest of my season at the valley!!

To be fair Oggy you're quotes are a little out of context and misleading.
He started off with ".....there has to be changes but there's nothing I can do 'til January...." The reporters have then jumped on this and asked if the board has told him he's gonna be in charge 'til January then and he's had to back track saying nothing been said. He then started with the "whoever's in charge..." angle.

I like the way the bloke comes across, far more sincere and genuine that Pards. He does actually talk sense and i'm far more p'd off with the players tonight than him. But as said it may be a case of wrong timing for him.
  • Maybe DR, but I only skimmed through the article on the website page and highlighted what I read in the way it came across to me.

I still pick up on his vibe that he feels he's almost out of time.
  • Or he could be a very honest bloke - who talks sense but isn't up to the job too - he didn't last long at Col U in this division ....
  • Parky talks alot of sense.

But tonight, we looked disorganised, no shape, no fight, no nothing.

And imo it all comes down to the coaching. Parky has been here two year almost and would have had a say as Pardew's right hand man.

We need a new face. Waiting around in limbo has already cost us 4 games. 4 games which we can't afford to wait and see if Parky can turn it around, when quite clearly he can't. A new face might also kick our overpaid bunch of muppets into being able to look something resembling footballers on the pitch.

    You're quite right, Supa.

Parky only guided Colchester to promotion to the CCC - but he quit in that close season because his board refused to allow him to apply for the jobs at Charlton and Hull.
  • Was it Hull that he didn't last long at ....they were in relegation and then Phil Brown came in or was Peter Taylor there in between ?

Either way - he got fired from his last job before this one!
  • ok he didn't last long at hull if we are going to get picky
  • et voila!

exactly, four games down the line and only 1 point better off. We should be ready to make an appointment now. We have had two weeks to draw up a shortlist, conduct interviews etc. The time to act is now.

I'd be very shocked if Di Canio was manager, as interesting as it would be. Can't see him being the kind of person the board would want as manager.

When he was appointed caretaker I was pleased as he had always come over as the genuine, honest guy you hear in the press conferences. Passionate, knowledgeable and very much his own man in terms of players and tactics as he has shown with his selections.

With that and his track record at Colchester I thought he was an ideal caretaker and with luck and time he could have shown he was the right man for the job.

It hasn't worked out like that but that is why you appoint him caretaker as it gives you time to weigh up the options.

After the Soton game I thought that he was started to build a team ethos and pattern of play but that seems to have disappeared.

Yes, losing Racon and McEvely didn't help him but that doesn't excuse what we saw last night.

If there is another manager ready to come before Derby I would be surprised but now I have said that means he'll be announced this PM. ; -)

Really sad to see Parky go if that is what happens as I still think he's a good young manager but needs must. Sometimes it doesn't work. O'Neil at Norwich, Phil Brown at Derby, Ramos at Spurs. None of them are now considered bad managers and neither, IMHO, is Parkinson. Shame we didn't get him when we appointed Dowie (who is a bad manager) but that's gone.

Di Canio? Not sure and nothing to do with the salutes but he would be something different.

I agree with all that. I was willing to give him a go because I liked his approach but the results and performances speak for themselves. Di Canio is just madness for me - in this situation we need management or coaching experience of which he has none. I'd go for Steve Clark or that fella at Southend who seems to be doing a good job.
  • Would that mean North upper are ultras if Di Canio came in?
  • One of the problems if we go for a manager in a job is that we will have to pay comp and not sure we have anything to pay with. If we were to go to Billy Davies before next Monday at least he would have a fire burning to motivate him for a victory against Derby.
