John Oster/Crippled Alice

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
So, they're going to sign Oster on an 18 month contract.

That's the sign of a good manager - takes a loan player, builds him up, gives him a run in the side, sees him blossom and benefits from it.

Of all the 100 loan players we've had - have any of them done for us what Oster and Beattie have done for Palace?

Even Kuqi, who is shite, is banging them in for fun - and he knows he's leaving in January!!!

Neil Warnock - genius ....

We HAVE to get our next managerial appointment correct ....

  • 4 goals isn't exactly 'banging them in for fun' is it?

by our strikers standards it is ;-)

    Depends what you're used to......
  • Kuqi's started 4 games, came off the bench 10 times and scored 5 goals - not a bad record for a pub player!

Beattie's been excellent for us at times, fully of running and has better movement than our other strikers and he's scored 5 in 15 games although he's played on the wing at times.

Oster's been superb recently, as soon as we give him a proper contract he picks up a knock, typical!

Warnock's proving once again why he's one of the best managers in the league, we have no money but he's developing our youth brilliantly and our formation is very effective, long may it continue.

Chaps, here is the difference between us and them. They have a decent manager at the helm. I am afraid/gutted to say it but that Warnock is a top manager, a lot of people don't like him but i always have, which is why i was gutted he went to palace!! There is just something about him, he makes me laugh and knows what he is doing.
  • i hate warnock with a passion (wherever he's managed i've thought he was a cnut) but he's done well with a poor club so fair play to him , thank goodness wolves, birm and reading will stop palace from the automatics but there's always the play offs!!! aaaaaaaaah
  • but don't worry, we can always chant "we sent the palace down" when we play them later in the season !
  • well we did Golfy, and its fun. As is singing every other stupid song. Its what some of us do at football. Some people want to cave some people's heads in, some just want to sing silly songs.

A word to the wise, it turns out that 'we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen' is a bit of a lie as well...

Always makes me chuckle when we sing that!!!

I'm going to need some serious proof about this statement. I've been told this by my dad since 1984.

It is? Well that's just not good enough! SACK THE MANAGER! SACK THE BOARD! SACK THE PLAYERS! SACK THE FANS!
  • Ledge, i saw his goal last night on big league weekend, man what a strike!! If a Rooney or fat Frank scored that then the world would be going into overdrive. Fantastic strike!

    .................

He wasn't a loannee, he was released by Reading at the end of last year and was given a short-term contract until December and has gone on to earn a longer contract, well done to him.
  • I recommended we sign him in pre season.....i wonder how Mr Oster would fare in our team
