Next Charlton manager

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
Another disapointing day yesterday, and after we seemed to start the game so well,

Looking online this morning it seems that parkys odds have lengthened.
http://www.online-betting-guide.co.uk/news/18228071/Aidy+Boothroyd+Favourite+In+Next+Charlton+Manager+Betting+Odds.html

and boothroyd is fav now. what are peoples thoughts? it also says 4 ex england midfeilders linked. I cant find out who though, I imagine its hoddle, platt and no idea who the others are? any thoughts? Robert Lee? ?

I think the board will really take their time to get this one right,

COME ON U ADDICKS, lets be out the relegation zone by xmas day! I'll take that for my present!

    Alan Curbishley 5/1
    Billy Davies 9/1
    Lawrie Sanchez 10/1
    Gus Poyet 12/1
    Sam Allardyce 12/1
    David O`Leary 16/1
    Steve Cotterill 16/1
    Steve Tilson 16/1
    Mark Kinsella 20/1
    Andy Hessanthaler 20/1
    Dennis Wise 22/1
    Ian Holloway 22/1
    Glenn Hoddle 28/1
    Chris Powell 28/1
    Joe Kinnear 33/1
    Iain Dowie 33/1
    Martin Allen 33/1
    John Gregory 33/1
  • I'd still only take Billy Davies out of that list.
  • aidy or curbs 4 me!
  • I'd still give Parky some more games but otherwise Poyet.

Interesting that Kinsella and Powell are now on the list.

My son said the Powell said on TV he'd like to do Strictly Come Dancing.
  • brilliant! Powelly on strictly, That would make me watch it! allthough I will confess to havin the odd peake at rachel!

The disturing thing for me from those odds is that i'm sure when i saw odds the other week, Dowie was 50/1 so his odds have shortened!!!

  • yep it was me i think we are already relegated don't worry mascot i'll stick my head up as well and say it.Won't stop me going home and away though.

John Sargeant would've done a better job than Pardew

Don't think we are in the position now to give Parky many more games.
  • If David O'Leary gets the gig then somebody please shoot me.
  • [cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]If David O'Leary gets the gig then somebody please shoot me.

and me !! From that list Billy Davies is the one for me. If not Allydyce, maybe Poyet. Why is Keano not in the running ? Got Sunderland promoted automatically from this position (well, maybe not quite as bad, so play-offs only)
  • Like a lot of people have said I would prefer Curbs back, but I think he has made it clear the prem is for him.

Regarding Davies & Boothroyd they are like many other managers now that have taken one team to the Promised Land and caught a cold straight after, neither for me. One other point on Davies, if it is true that he turned us down then more reason not to pick him.

I am surprised Darren Ferguson hasn’t been put on the list everyone else seems to be (except Keane as mentioned previous).

I know this will get derision especially with the Millwall link but Dennis Wise seems to have the background to resolve the mess we are now. He did a good job with no money at Millwall and stopped the slide at Leeds again with no money when they were in freefall. He also overcame the fans being totally against his appointment and has the character to be up for the challenge for a lost cause, as when Leeds were deducted points.

Even so don’t imagine he would leave the Newcastle gravy train.

It’s easy to bash the board but the truth is we would all probably pick someone different and most on the list apart from Curbs will get criticism before a ball is kicked.

    i agree sf
  • There is a manager who's not on that list, who I've just been told we've approached.

    I ain't saying who btw.

    Oh go on :)
  • Can't say as you know that 95% of rumours are bs.

But he's not on that list.

But he's not on that list.

    here starts the twenty questions.

    1. is he currently employed at another club?
  • 2. Is he wearing a red jumper ?

    3. Is he wearing glasses ?

    4. Has he got a bald head ?

    5. Is it Peter ????
  • 6: Animal?

    7: Mineral?

    8: Vegetable?
  • If even this rumour turns out wrong, it is logical.
  • If is the same rumor I heard last night then it is Peter Taylor.
  • Computer says No
  • How about a Manager who has spent the grand total of £375,000 on players in two years in charge but had to sell others to the tune of £1.65 million - and still won promotion.
  • Lennie Lawerence anybody? LOL. At least he still lives locally.

What's the point in speculating? Only the Board know what is going on, & I'm quite happy to trust them to get it right.
  • Two Chelsea supporters on the train this morning were saying that they had heard that Steve Clarke was "leaving those shit hamnmers and going to Charlton" .

    only a rumour.....
  • Steve Clarke could be a good shout.

Watford gave Rogers a chance form Chelsea so could see Clarke wanting a go at managing.
