They need you more now than ever

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
I went over my Mums' this afternoon, I had the radio on in her kitchen on Radio London, it was about 4:30, she is 73, she knows what Charlton means to me, her ex husband (my Dad) and her now long departed father in law (my grandfather) and when it came up we were 2-0 down, she turned to me, without me saying a word or reacting to the announcement of the scoreline, she said to me:-

"Son, they need you now more than ever..."

I almost cried.

I have nothing more to say other than she is so right, stand up and support the club we love.

I can't do some long winded eloquent impassioned plea to you all, I ask but one thing, think about what has been said above, and think about what it means to you all as individuals, and let's react as one, for this is when we are strongest.

  • Too true mate, and let it start on Tuesday!
  • dead right we need to stand up and get behind them more than ever like most clubs do

    BUT

To many boo boys still down there all they need to do is walk on to the pitch wrong and they will be on there backs

Here is hoping that does not happen and we make some kin noise for once
  • Great post fatkit, great post... very touching.

I know that your Mum is right and in my heart I know that I'll be back making all the noise I can, but it's a lot tougher to stomach than I had expected. I dread hearing the boo boys yet again. If that's what it does to me, I can only begin to imagine what it does to the players. Why can't they see that booing makes things worse, I just don't understand this mentality, it's all about relieveing their feelings and s*d everyone else.
  • I think instead of boooing we should all cheer as if we have one each time that'll confuse the opposition so much that their heads explode and we win by default!
  • We certainly could do with some sort of support, cant of been anymore than 300 at Blackpool yesterday. Was well over 1000 for the same fixture last season. The support is just as lackluster as the performances - home and away, were both as bad as each other.
  • come on our support is worse than the team in numbers away from home it's non league...
we can scream and shout as much as we want it aint gonna make crap footballers better
