I can't believe that everybody wants to get shot of Luke Varney.

Haven't we learned by our mistakes with big Chris?

We bought a player who had scored 20+ goals. He plays a season and gets 10 goals and sell him, and now we are watching him flying high towards the prem with 13 in 14 games

In Luke we have a player who like Matt Holland gives 110%. We all know he can score, he just needs help.

If he was in any other sport, he would be having an expert coach or ex player helping him. Why not let Killer or Super Clive have a few weeks with him and see how he gets on.

Didn't we learn anything? It seems not!

Big Dilemma.

Will never score in a month of sundays for us.Bet he scores absolute s*it loads for Derby!

but we have McLeod ,Dickson, Gray , Waghorn , Bouazza all top quality strikers banging them in for fun for us at the moment so varney's surplus

Disagree, Varney is a trier, yes, and should be applauded for that but is not up to it at this level on a consistent basis.

Its fine being a strong, willing runner but Varney is not genuinely quick like Darrent Bent or even McLeod so his pace can't take him past players on a consistent basis which means that he can't get in on goal as often as he really needs to.

Allied to this, his touch is not that great, he is only average in the air and can't play that well with his back to goal.

Watching his goals for Crewe in Tier-3 I got the sense that he might struggle with the better quality defenders at this level and he has done.

I seriously doubt he'll score bundles for Derby because, unlike Big Chris, he does not have a good track record of scoring in this division, in his two full seasons in Tier-2 he scored 6 for Crewe and 7 for us, unlike Iwelumo who got 19 at Colchester.

Debatable.A quality striker does not miss the chances he misses.
