Martin Allen

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
According to his cousin Bradley (on BBC site), he will be applying for the vacant post. Not sure about this one (doubt he's Richard Murray's style), but he would certainly shake them up a bit!

  • The blokes a nutter, dont know about walking across main roads in Newcastle, he'll have them swimming the Tyne.
  • NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!

If you thought Pardew's press conferences were bad, you ain't heard nothing yet. Ditto for Holloway.

They're both clowns and we don't want stand-up, we want a hard to beat team.

I wonder what Cheltenham Town think about Martin Allen applying for the Charlton job?
  • Bet the directors at Cheltenham are delighted their recently appointed manager is hawking himself round
  • If the idea is coming from cousin Bradley, no thanks. Remember when we bought him from QPR - 95-96 season, Curbs' first in charge without Gritt, I think? Ten games to go, brilliantly placed for automatic promotion... Bradley scored on debut - and then that was it. We only won one of the last nine, fell to sixth in the table and then lost both play-off legs to Palace.I always remained convinced if we'd stuck with the side that got us so near and never had Bradley Allen, we probably would have made it!
  • he's got a three year deal... i think criteria number one for our new manager is inevitably "no compensation payout"

more to the point: Cheltenham are 23rd in League One, 6 points below a very poor Leyton Orient team who occupy the closest position of safety, have the worst goal difference in the division, and have lost six league games in a row!

he'd definitely scare a few of our fairies though
  • I wondered how long it would be before his named graced the title of a post. I'm with Valley11, no thanks from me.

Bradders never failed to amuse me. Without fail, when the keeper punted the ball down field towards him, he would jump about 5 minutes before the ball came down so that he was always back on the ground by the time the defender would head it clear unchallenged!
