Rodgers named new Watford manager

Watford have named Chelsea reserve-team coach Brendan Rodgers, 35, as their new manager, following Aidy Boothroyd's recent departure.

It will be Rodgers' first experience of management at first-team level.

Caretaker boss Malky Mackay stays on at the Championship club as first-team coach, and will be in charge for Tuesday's game at Bristol City.

Former West Ham player and assistant manager Frank Lampard Snr joins the Hornets as a football consultant.

Might work well or could all go wrong for them.

I reckon we might announce a similar sort of appointment given our money situation

  • That has to be a headline about: Elton John rodgers *insert word to make hilarious*
  • They lucked out with Boothroyd last time, so maybe they think they'll do it again.

and they did. Were below us when he was appointed but finished streets ahead of us. Oh for a Board with some foresight. Watford have been shafted now though as he's been appointed Reading manager. Watford are 800k better off though so not bad for six months. So that rules out Parky to Reading but does put Pardew in the frame for Watford.
