It has been reported in one or two places that it is a Jason Euell type situation (although one hopes and prays not with the same tragic outcome). Mostly, however, the press for once seems to have done the decent thing by respecting his right to privacy and we should ,too.
Whether he's playing on through a sense of duty or in order to take his mind off things or what , I'm not sure. But as we all know, Pardew admitted in his penultimate interview on the OS that he didn't train last week because of the situation. Then he tried to do a decent job on Sat for an hour and credit to him, he was far from the worst on the pitch.
But anybody who has tried to hold down a job while their mind was elsewhere on more important family matters, will sympathise. He should be given as much time as he needs and if Helguson arrives, I guess it makes it easier to do that.
I wouldn't mind knowing what's up with Andy Gray as well - every time I've seen him interviewed he comes across as a nice, genuine bloke. If anyone who knows what the issue is can whisper it to me that would be great

Whatever it is is Andy Gray's own business. I certainly wouldn't want my workplace and colleagues to have chapter and verse on all aspects of my life and, even though much of their work takes place inevitably under public scrutiny, footballers are also entitled to some privacy.
I just hope the problem, whatever it is, is not too serious and can be satisfactorily resolved as quickly as possible.
Indeed. Isn't Nigel W's post enough to give you the jist without all the gory details of what a horrific time our main striker is going through? If i was in his shoes which i hope i'll never find myself there is no way in the world i could work. This voyeurism is all a bit sick if you ask me...
Still big HH in which is a decent signing, just need to make another 7 or 8 now.
Thanks to everyone who whispered - same rumours as I had heard, so looks like there may be some truth to it. Like I said, I've always thought Andy was a very professional player - never struck me as one who would take the p*** or just moan about something like being 'homesick'. Hope everything works out for him and his family.

Cheers!
Me too...
can someone whisper me, please?
nosyitis
No mention of him having any personal problems, although it would seem their idiot news editor has one or two...
