Yes, but what is that saying? I know he got injured at Watford this year but he hardly played at all last year and with our well known weaknesses in central midfield, epitomised by the continuing presence of the admirable but limited Holland, Pardew should have been spending money on bringing in a decent midfielder with CCC experience rather than bringing in an untried Racon.
I guess my beef with Racon is more with Pardew than the player himself, maybe his inclusion is a bit harsh.
Actually Oakster, I think that your call on Ambrose is bang on. Pardew was a goalscoring midfielder, just like Sharon, and yet he singulalrly failed to coax any kind of consistency out of him at all.
Ambrose should have been our "Koumas" type quality ball-playing, goal-scoring attacking midfielder yet Pardew shuffled him round the side continually and never gave him an extended run behind the strikers, the players preferred role.
To be fair though, Ambrose must also share the blame for his poor form.
As for Youga, I think people over-estimate his success at Scunthorpe - they lost a lot of games and conceeded a lot of goals while he was there and still went down!!!
Not saying that he's no good, and I know that he's had injuries, but he was 'one for the future' nearly two years ago so we must have been looking a long way ahead when we signed him...
I cannot seriously see how some think Lita was bad, he always put in 100% unlike some of our other loanee's and scored 3 in about 5 games, we havn't had many strikers with a 0.6 goal per game ratio, great maths, i loved him, if only we had signed him, look wat he's doin for the inbreds
I think Varney is a harsh choice also, still don't think he is a natural striker, i would prefer him on the right wing, for wat i hav seen he can deliver a good cross and can utilise his pace, sam for me is becoming like JT, great when running at a player but no finish product
Bit harsh putting Faye in there, I think Pards only played him a handful of times after he came to the club - even the old silver fox could see how crap Faye was.
Bit unfair on Dean Sinclair who has only started one game for the addicks in the league cup last year where he played well and scored. Also Fleetwood has yet to make an appearance for us.
Did Traore ever play for Pardew? I thought he got rid of him straight away
to be fair though the entire squad have under performed for the past 20 months, it'll cause unrest but i'd put holland in the gap aswel, I think along with ambrose and big big reason y we simply haven't competed in midfield.
In pards eyes our worst 11 would be - by fact of never playin them (more so last yr)
Now out of that we have th two best defensive midfielders we have at the club - the position we have needed to improve for 3/4 years,
the best left back at the club - discounting semedo as he's betta in CM
the best right back in the squad - discounting semedo as he's betta in CM
the only natural finisher in the squad - Dicko
the quickest player in the squad - Mccloed

Youga & Ambrose are names I keep hearing.

Smith isn't even a regular for Welling, no idea where Monteiro went.
