Alan Pardew has left his position as Charlton manager by mutual consent, the club announced on Saturday night.
It's hard to get on the site:
Richard Murray, chairman of the football club board, said: "On reflection of results so far this season, and looking at the future challenges for the remainder of the campaign, it was agreed by both parties that Alan would leave the club with immediate effect.”
The end of Pardew's 23-month reign at The Valley came after the Addicks, without a win in eight matches, slipped into the bottom three of the Championship following a 5-2 home defeat to Sheffield United.
Phil Parkinson, previously assistant manager, will act as Charlton caretaker-manager and will take charge of the Addicks for the first time against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Tuesday night.
Shame it didn't work out, signings, tactics, not really sure why we find ourselves in the position we are in. But there was something about Pardew which made me hard to hate him.

Wish him well for the future.[/quote]
Completely agree, he did his best and hope he recovers from this setback, good luck Alan for the future
He got lucky at Reading as he inherited a good squad from Coppell...very lucky to get West Spam up via playoffs....one hit wonder season with Hammers and then all downhill from there....He wasn't the man to bring in and rebuild....Curbs would be my choice with Kinsella as asst manager so he can mentor
Pards had to go - but I find myself feeling that little bit of compassion for him.
Tactically naive, scattered in his thinking, and no doubt he eventually lost a major part of the dressing room.
That couldn't go on and he had to go - if only to change the energy of the place.
But no man deliberately fails, he just gets found out.
I thought he was the right guy. Cant say i ever warmed to him at all. Always felt he thought himself above us.Was always WHU/Palarse really.
I have compassion for the million or 2 being put out of work through none of their making/failures, and not 1 % compassion for someone who walks away geting a nice wedge for making OUR club a laughing stock.
I have been talking about with non addicks and they seemed to be of the suggestion that Pards is a nice fella and that his strengths are in motivation not tactics and he gets found out easily and then the players dont know what else to do.
Seems the best answer to any of the questions i have been asking myself as to where it went wrong

he united us and then destroyed us - good riddance

To an ego-driven but fragile inner-confidence bloke like Pards, that'll be devastating.

err Coppell took over from Pardew.
