[cite]Posted By: ross[/cite]billy davies for me, but he'd just stick his middle finger up at us now after the way we treated him
way we treated him !!!. LOL. He actually turned it down as he considered Curbs had over achieved and anyone who took over from him was on a hiding to nothing. He'd take it now like a shot.
I thought we said no to him as he wanted to bring his own staff and not join the 3 man team that we ended up having?
I know they say 'never go back' and I never thought I'd hear myself saying this. But it is not without precedent and he could afford to come to us on a short-term contract until the end of the season - esp. if he gets his money out of West Ham.
He would have the opportunity to become a total Charlton legend to rival Sam B and Jimmy S rolled into one. And he wouldn't have to do very much - just get us into mid-table respectability come the end of the season and he can have a bloody stand named after him!

According to Richard Murray, we offered, he asked for a night to think it over & a room was booked at the big hotel in Bexleyheath. The following morning Murray phones Davies' lawyer & it turns out they've pissed-off back up north. They keep giving "we need another couple of hours" messages & then eventually pull out.
Curbs please and personally i think Richard Murrey & the board should camp on his front lawn until he agrees! (he say waiting to be shouted down?) I want a calm & safe pair of hands at the helm please!
There is really only one name for me and that is Ian Holloway. I read his autobiography at christmas and he has always had one thing in his set up which I believe Charlton severly lack...A GOOD SCOUTING NETWORK!, obviously Pardews wasn't up to scratch otherwise he wouldn't have missed out on some of the loan signing other clubs have made recently. Also Ollies teams have always played attrative attacking football. He did a great job at Plymouth on little money but wasn't really given the time at Leicester, like all of their other managers. Also Ollie is a real character, someone to put a smile on our faces, lets face it, we need cheering up and he might actually play Dean Sinclair or Martin Christensen (Pards said he'd given the squad a chance- so how come neither of these featured!) Also as Ollie isn't employed at the moment, there'd be no compo to pay to his employers!. Ollie, Ollie, Ollie.
Anyone who went to the 'open' training session, the day before the seasons opener would have realised that we were going to struggle this season, player hitting the ball high , wide and all over the place and Pardew saying things like, "That was a good shot, unlucky, nice try" when they plainly weren't. He didn't seem to have a scooby. I ran one of the Junior Reds team a couple of years back and have a coaching badge and would't have dreamed of saying that to the kids let alone so-called professionals. Martin Christensen, though really impressed and what have we seeen of him in the first team since he joined- absolutely nothing!.
[cite]Posted By: budgie[/cite]I'd quite like to see Stevie Kember there, I'm sure as another ex Palace man, he could finish the job Dowie and Pards started.
Darren fergusson was what i came here to say too. Posh were his east stirlingshire, we'd be his St Mirren. Davies i'd not mind either - just to clear it up for all the fantasists, he turned us down because he didn't want to have to work with an imposed team including Uncle Les, which demonstrates sound judgement.
Finally, Hooloway: FFS what are you thinking, funny man, but just took Leicester, a similar stature club, down playing awful football. The most ridiculous suggestion, ever.
Given our post curbs appointment record i'm not expecting anything good, though.

Dave Penney (Darlington), Mark Stimson (Gillingham) or Nigel Adkins (Scunthorpe United).
