Pards programme comments.....

...slyly digging out fans again.

Says he has steered himself away from the press recently as he needs to steel himself from the criticism. Quotes Frank Lampard saying that fans need to support and its ridiculous to boo your own players'.

Pards goes on to say 'we cannot afford any negativity from the stand this afternoon. We are in a hole, we know we are, and with your support, we are determined to get out of it'.

All admiral words Alan, but the fans start positive every game. The reason it has turned to not being fully supportive is because more often than not, the other team are either more organised or more up for it than our own, not just in recent weeks but for nearly a year now.

Christ we need a decent performance and a win tomorrow. It almost feels like a cup final

  • He loves a dig at us doesn't he!

Couldn't agree more though AFKA - we do all to often seem underprepared

I agree about it almost feeling like a cup final. It's partly because of the perilous league position we are in but also because of those two ''improved performances'' away from home, which most of us didn't see and still failed to put points on the board. The team now has to show it has improved in front of the same 20,000 fans who watched the Barnsley horror show. If they don't turn it on at home, then those ''improved performances'' might as well have never happened and we are right back where we were three weeks ago -which is staring into the abyss.

It's also interesting what Mr Pardew says about the booing. Of course, he's right to encourage the fans to get behind the team. But it is subtlely different from what he said in his now famous mea culpa at the NW Kent meeting, where, according to Large's thoroughly excellent report, he said booing was part and parcel of the game when a team was playing badly and the players were paid enough money that they had no right to complain about it...

On a similar subject, Steve Waggott says 11 pages on....

'the impatience was palpable throughout St Andrews. Similar frustrations can be found in every stadium in the country, and, in some ways, its a by-product of modern, fast-moving society'.
  • Can I mention Andy Hessenthaler again?

    no, he is a cock.

I take it you have never come across him, or a team he has coached / managed. I have, and wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.
  • I'm just judging him by what he's doing at Dover. Maybe a cock is what we need? I'd be grateful if you could expand on why he's such a no-go.
  • I said many moons ago that the best thing Mr P could do would be to keep his mouth firmly shut.....I dont think this guy will ever learn....lets hope the football does the talking tomorrow.....almost later today!
