Marc Overmars, never forget an articale (i think it was the Sunday Mirror) that they run about all the players we were set to sign due to the amount we had from the parker sale, and the position money we had recieved, the names on the list were amazing.
Samuel E'to was going to sign (no really) but then broke his leg so could fly over. Something to do with his academy in Cameroon rather than playing first team football.
Last really "wow, he's playing for us!" moment was Mendonca. Knew we had a real chance of going up with him in the side.
[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Chris Dickson ....... or Dickie Dickie Dickie Plumb, from Yeovil.
Or that Gary Churchouse or Churchyard or whatever his name was.
Nobody remembered to include him amongst the obscure and useless?
Churchouse was a stalwart of my all time worst XI, although his place has been under pressure a couple of times in recent seasons...
Dickie Plumb was pretty ropey as well although Barry Endean was possibly the worst from that era.
One that kept coming up a few years back was James Beattie, but I agree with Henry that when Mendonca signed you knew we were onto a winner. We had a sparky from Grimsby believe it or not, who was down testing our kit at work and he said it was all over the local preess that he was Valley bound, this was a couple of weeks before he signed. In CAFC terms, one of those all too rare moments of real excitement.
Kezman - he even admitted he would probably have to to us for 2 years to prove himself in the Premiership as the big 4 wouldnt come in for him as he hadnt scored in the champions league games he had played in.

He was arguably in the top 10 players in the world at the time andgiven the number of "false dawns" it seemed a far fetched fantasy.
Amazingly though he arrived eventually and was sheer class, too good for some of our players at the time who simply couldn't "read" his intentions.
That was in Jonathan Ackworths mind...

And Rommedahlia for that matter, he was quality in euro 2004

I thought were were supposed to be having a half share in Milan Baros
I knew Milan was involved somehow :-)
