Pards on the rest of the season

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
"I hope that [the Barnsley defeat] was our lowest point," said Pardew. "I'm sure we'll have more lows this season, but hopefully not as bad as that, because we did lose all focus in that game.

More lows.... FFS.

    Not this

"That caused negativity to spill onto the pitch, and that is an issue for us on Saturday as we really need the fans to stay with us."

Which is ball cocks because the negativity only emerged when we went 2-0 down after about 10 minutes.............

errmm just be a bit positive perhaps.. we dont need to be told there will be more lows this season baring a miracle it could be one of the lowest seasons we have had for donkeys years, its almost as if when we go another 7 games without a win he can say "well i did tell you so there is no reason to boo me" just more of his spin that bugs me. He should be saying that we will be fighting for every point from now until may, have some fire and passion about him, to be honest sounds to be like hes almost given up.

Edit: on the booing, if we see a team play with hunger and pride there will be no need to boo, so only Pards can make that happen...
  • True that, the noise was supportive, as soon as the second went in it turned.
  • What gets me is, everything is everyone else's fault, does he not stop for a minute a think, actually maybe it's just me that sh*t?

If it's not our support, is because the crowd is too negative, if it's not because we missed Primus it's because we're not playing our best team, if it's not because he's got no money to spend it's because we've got too many loan players. When is he going to actually stop turning it around all the time and just realise it's him who picks the team so the buck stops with him and take a bit of responsibilty!

and if he doesn't say that you'll attack the positive spin of his comments!
  • Salad mate, to be honest if just got the lads wining and playing like a team i wouldnt give a monkeys what he says off the pitch, fact is he has not!!! if by some miracle we beat sheff utd on saturday i wouldnt care if he quoted the whole works of shakespeare in the press conference, the point is we well 90% of us are getting sick to the back teeth with his stupid comments when he cant back it up on the pitch!
  • Just win the f**kin game.
  • Just out of interest - how many people on this thread boo at The Valley?

And second question, do you think that helps the players to achieve what we all want, winning games?

I have said before but I don't mind saying again, I never, ever, ever boo and I never, ever, ever will.

No it doesn't help the players at all.

We used to laugh and joke about the cliches Curbs would come out with. Indeed experienced Curbs watchers would often know what he was going to say before he said it. You always knew he was venturing "outside his box" when the eyelashes started fluttering.

The thing is though Curbs always said I'm the manager the buck stops with me. Pardew sometimes says it quickly all in one breath and then spends another half hour blaming everybody else.

Take some responsibility Alan, do things your way and live or die by your own efforts. The Board will decide whether or not those efforts are good enough.
  • You can't help thinking the idiots who boo will get exactly what they want - relegation.

To those who boo the team and say Pardew is self fulfilling - take a look in the mirror!

I don't boo,I sometimes shout and scream, but in recent games i have just slumped back in my seat..and before anyone asks why i'm not singing i sit in the east stand with Waldorf and Statler sitting in front of me amd i don't want to wake them up as you know how grumpy old people can get.

    Never boo our team.

Any moaning I do is on this forum.

I save my booing for fulltime, i would never boo a player whilst the match is playing. If we just played some good bloody football and got a win or even just show some fight there would be no booing at all. PArds picks the team, Pards gives the team talks he is responsible for the dross we endure week in week out, so having forked out for a ticket i think we have every right to show are feelings at full time. As i have said before, if u payed £30 quid to see a band and they were awful u would boo so this is the same sadly Charlton is my religion so it hurts me that we have come to this its like booing at the priest on a sunday morning, its wrong but has to be done.. ;-)

Forgot to add the booing is for PArds not for the players...
  • He's got more rabbit than sainsbury's. Talk is cheap Pardew.

Valley11, its been debated heartily on here before, but i think you find that the vast majority on here would never dream of booing individual players or being negatively disruptive during a game.

Of course its wrong to generalise, but i personally think that those who post on sites such as this and others are the fans that are most emotionally involved with a club. Their football club is more than just something they turn up to on a Saturday afternoon, as they go out of their way at other times to get information, updates on the club, and to discuss it. Those type of people generally want the best for the club because it means a lot to them, and virtually every one of them will be wanting their club to succeed. With that mindset, you are more likely to be supportive.

I know for a fact that i have been critical on here of late, because i generally think things are not right with the club and this is our outlet to say that, but equally you will struggle to go some to find an individual more supportive during the game tomorrow.

Same as that, I was motionless and mute during the Barnsley game.

I only ever vent my anger at the ref.

Agreed AFKA - but people are booing.

I couldn't make the Barnsley game but kept an eye on Sky Soccer Saturday.

Every time they went back to the reporter -who was stood in the East Stand - the noise was as depressing a sound I've heard coming out of The Valley in years. And this wasn't at full time, this was 20mins in.

I take your point but from a crowd of say 16,000 Charlton fans there are an awful lot of f'ing idiots who are helping, with the combination of poor form by the team admittedly, to bring about a speedy demise for Charlton Athletic.

If you did an analysis of the average Charlton fan right now I think it would make grim reading.

Something akin to a spoilt, fat, 8 year old who knows no better but bloody should!

Aaarrgh! Referees! don't get me started on those clowns......where are my happy pills!!!
  • got this bunch of muppets on saturday:

    Charlton Athletic v Sheffield United
    S TANNER
    I Gosling and N Kinseley
    Fourth Official A Woolmer
  • the team got boo'ed at half time v Bristol City when we had played well and trailed to Bailey's error.

There was effort and skill and SOME still boo'ed. I can only assume because that is what they consider it right thing to do when we are losing regardless.

As for Pardew, as others have said, I don't care what he says, wears, where he stands, how animated he is on the touchline or if he's in a suit or tracksuit. Just get YOUR players to play well enough so MY team wins. All the rest is just window dressing.

Great that we played well v PAFC and Brum but not enough. Now win some games. Lots of them.
  • Well as you say Valley11, you wasn't there. Getting beat, outplayed and outfought by one of the few teams below us in the table, after such a dire run was the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of people.

Its gone now, so there is no point going on about it now.

Well said, win more often and all the crap fades away, I've never met a footy fan who does'nt moan after defeat, Pards' problem is to many defeats and you run out of excuses.

so COME ON U REDS and come on AP before its to late!
  • AFKA - I wasn't 'going on about it'.

Just merely referencing what I think is a worrying trait of Charlton fans that, as I think Pardew refers to in his pre Sheff Utd press conference, tranfers to the players and affects their performance.

Think I must have missed the originally thread about booing so apols for going over old ground.

Here's to a rockin' Valley this Sat and three points to the boys in red (with a large splash of white! hehe)

It's not Rob Styles so i'm not worried, although his name does ring a bell and i have a nagging suspision that he's s**t!
  • He's reffed ten games this season.

30 yellows and 2 reds. Both of them reds came in the only 2 championship games he has reffed this season.
