Charlton v Sheff U - poll, predictions etc

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
A crazy week where the pirates take over the seas, and nearer to home the lunatic remains in charge of the Charlton asylum. Will Saturday be 'Turning Point - Version 28' after two improved performances, or will we slip back to the same old disappointment.

Who do expect to play, what formation, score prediction, crowd prediction, quality of the pies prediction, and any other rubbish you can think of. You tell me.

  • A very Nervy Win by the odd goal, no idea why but like all Bad runs they come to an end eventually, think ours finally will this weekend & not before bloody time.
  • To tell the truth i really have not got a clue wots going to happen, another season of loan players in, out, shaking it all about, leaves pore old 'bloodnut' a very confused supporter.
  • really uncomfortable about this one.... could be some MAJOR reprecutions if it goes the wrong way.....

    A draw for me.....

it that fat c*&^( beattie playing if he is then he will get a goal.......

    id love a win.....

a win please but i feel a draw....
  • I have a feeling we are going to win,

If we dont though could be pards last game i fear...
  • A draw for me. But I'm hoping that if we don't have to chase the game we might sneak a last minute winner
  • Anything less than a win is unthinkable ...If we don't get all three points, that means we will have just one victory in 12 games with another tough away fixture coming up mid-week against a team which will be on a new manager bounce.

The nightmare has to end somewhere (doesn't it?) so I am going for victory by a single goal , otherwise the excitment over our two recent improved away performances will count for nothing.

Will he have the nerve to start with the Sunderland lad? The betting has to be he will come off the bench... I expect the crowd will get behind the team but it will be a tense old afternoon and if Shef U get the first goal, I dread to think what might happen - so I refuse to entertain that possibility!

Long time since I was so nervous before a match. I just think this one is huge. Two improved away performances were only worth a single point. If we can't turn that improved spirit and performance into three points at home then it has been yet another false dawn and something drastic will have to be done.
  • i think we are going to stuff them.the valley will be rocking again.
  • This game needs to be the turning point, i'm guessing ,but like a lot of you I think this is vital for AP, win and progress can be claimed, not going to mention the D word but it would be a disaster.
  • 2-0 the Addicks
  • Beattie hatrick 3 nil Blades

  • Im going for a Charlton win, not going to guess the score as I dont wanna jinx this any further but after two improved performances I can see us building on that and taking the three points. Cant see us keeping a clean sheet though so preparing for a very tense afternoon down in the Valley on Saturday. Really looking forward to it though.

If we dont win however I think it could spell the end for a certain AP.

Fingers crossed though hey...... COME CHARLTON!

At home with one up front - it'll be a bore draw.

Although the closer it gets to sat the more i'm leaning on a shef u win, started the week 3-1 to us!! After 2 weeks of not watchin us I'd forgotten how truely shite we have been, its all comin floodin back now though.

Still looking forward to it though

    line up will be

    Weaver
    Mouts Hudson Primus Youga
    Semedo
    Bailey Holland
    Sam Bouazza
    Gray

Subs - Wahgorn, Varney, Basey, Elliot, Fortune
  • Am I the only one brave enough to vote lose and put my name to it? I think the Blades are too strong and physical for us being a team of lightweights...I'd love us to win, but I have to say I dont think it will happen
    :-(
  • 1-3 Head overules heart this week, sorry
  • [cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]Win 3-1

I have no idea why other than "a feeling" but i reckon 3-1 too, with a much better atmosphere.
  • Not sure about the score or the result but I'll bet, after the huge thread on our new loanee, that Waghorn scores at least once on Sat.

....I can just see the above in yellow on Sat afternoon under a new thread heading: "So you were saying...?"
  • We are vulnerable at the back, lack creativity in the middle and are rather toothless upfront - add Beattie and Halford to that equation, and I see little reason for optimism...
  • i am going for a 1 nil blades victory
  • Regretably I can't see anyting other than a win for them by 2 clear goals at least one of which will be scored by Beattie. Another one of those players who always seems to score against us, a la Phillips.

  • Them to win - Beattie to definitely score - most likely a header from a set piece. They are a much better side than us - the table does not lie ....
  • I'm all the way with that Threadkiller person, onwards and upwards!
  • [cite]Posted By: ThreadKiller[/cite]i think we are going to stuff them.the valley will be rocking again.

  • My prediction for Saturday is that I could go home with frostbite, as apparently the temperature won't get any higher than four degrees.

As for the game, a draw could be a good result.
  • 2 v 1 Utd ,

it will be the "boo ers" fault.

    crowd will be 20,300

    we fall into bottom 2

Pards says something kak, but deosnt walk or the the elbow

    same --- same.
  • Sorry, I think tomorrow will be as horrible as Barnsley.

We wont get another point till the Southampton game.

Beattie will take the piss out of The Rock Hudson.
  • win 2-1.

lookin comfortable for a 2-0 win for 82 mins until Beattie bangs in a pen and it become a very nervous Valley.

    Waghorn to score the second
  • Sheffield win. Ending any hope that our last two performances we may have turned the corner.

Beattie will score. Probably from a Halford throw.
  • I am genuinely surprised today.

We should all be getting ready to cheer on our team like mad tomorrow - this is truly a season defining game and we need to win to get something started

And yet the poll at the present time is 24 Vs 17 in favour of Charlton.

This just tells me there are plenty of people ready to start the booing tomorrow - regardless of performance or scoreline and this disappoints me

We should be going to cheer on the team reagardless of the manager - whe should be busting a guy to cheer the boys on
  • 2-0 win ; Waghorn to get them both
