striker problem ahead of tomorrow

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
according to the OS both Varney & Dickson are doubtful for tomorrow - leaving just Gray & Toddy as our fit strikers.

I hope that one of Varney or Dickson will be ok tomorrow , but if not what does that mean. Play 4-5-1 with sam out wise instead of Varney? even so, it leave sus v. light up-front

we need to recall Fleetwood or bring in someone on loan NOW.

  • you have forgotten Izzy. Hope you are not going to be miserable all the way up tomorrow !!
  • me.. miserable ? I don't know how you can say such a thing.

you'll be asleep by the time we hit the M1 anyway.
  • It's gonna be 4-5-1..lump the ball forward to the lone striker stuff and try and soak up the pressure when it comes back......we're going to get mullered!!!
  • Dickson is clearly injury prone. Yet another game he is missing. : - )

Gray and 451 sounds good to me. Sam to get the winner.

    don't you mean the M25 ?

yeah in a 4-5-1 I agree, Sam to get the winner ? not so sure. Gray (2) and Bailey in a 3-1 win. New loan signing van Nisterooy will have to settle for a place on the bench.
  • We could use Ambrose he say behind teh strikers las seson at one game and scored to great goals
Oh yeah we let him go

oh well, could always play Sam up front
  • Not a problem at all.

Having too many strikers made the player with the shirt nervous. Now with no one to come in to replace them they can relax and score at will.
  • Could this be one of those occassions where by circumstances beyond his control, Pardew stumbles across a winning up front combo.

    McCleod and Toddy??

    McCleod and Toddy??

I'd quite like to see that.

Can't be any worse than what we've tried before.

  • methinks it will be 4-5-1.......defend at all costs and then let in a late goal by you know who.....Kevin Phillips

    McCleod and Toddy??

I like that combination in theory.

In practice though neither are properly match fit which has to be a concern with both Varney and Dicko injured.
  • Looking at it logically, the team to play will be set up in exactly the same way as last week's Argyle match - and exactly the same players, if fit.

Hopefully, Semedo has recovered - If Varney's unfit then he'll need a pacy runner to stretch their defence - pick from McLeod or Sam. My own choice would be to start with McLeod and replace him with the tricky Sam on 60 mins.

Toddy will never last 90 mins, so again use him for the last 30 mins as impact sub - and pull Gray back into attacking midfield.

That last 20 mins at Argyle, Gray, Toddy and Sam linked up brilliantly at times. We looked an attacking threat again.

Ha ha. One asleep and the other miserable and moaning. What was it like on the way back?
