Time to give Shelvey a few games?

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
We need a bit more creativity in the midfield, and with Bailey giving more bite, I'd really like to see Jonjo given more of a chance over the next few games. Or do we have to keep him under wraps until after the transfer window??

  • Weegie i agree. although i think he could still go in the transfer window. people in the game know how good he is and even £1million for a mid range prem team is worth the risk if he does develop to the player most believe he will.
  • I would definitely keep Semedo in the team.

If we were mid-table I'd agree with regards to Shelvey, but given we are down at the bottom I am not so sure, I would probably stick with Holland for now.
  • I wouldnt risk him yet i would bench him and give him 10 or 15 mins half hr max but we need to pull away from trouble 1st
  • Well if you saw how our centre midfield played at Argyle, especially with Semedo ........ you might reckon that centre midfield isn't particularly the part of the team that needs strengthening.

    Now wide .....
  • I'd certainly play Jonjo at home
  • Reidy played the banjo
  • uncle's recent abscene probably shows how the shelvey family are feeling about the present situation.
  • pards has tried everyone but him. Maybe he feels he doesn't want too much pressure on the lad plus he went off to that tournament. But he's got to give him some playing time surely.
  • why not

Good enough to play for England we should get him out there
  • I'd like to see Jonjo come off the bench a few times to get a bit more experience, But Pards' recent comments regarding picking his best team, and relying on his more experienced players means sadly thats unlikely. Just another example of the manager bigging players up and saying they will play a big part, and then not using them.

  • Wouldn't be surprised if he was on the bench for the next few games, especially the home ones.

There's a lot of competition in CM though.
  • Could he play on the right side of midfield? Semedo and Bailey in centre, not sure who on the left. Either Diamond or flat four
  • Could someone do to us what Spuds did to Palace?

Neil Diamond is a bit too slow these days
  • if jonjo starts playing in december it'll prolly be shop window time for the january (we're skint) sales ;-)
