"What it costs to pay off Pardew will depend on CAFC's contract with Pardew not Ramos's contract with Spurs."
It will depend on negotiation, Henry. Ramos's lawyers initially demanded a far higher figure. What they arrived at is not a contract figure but a negotiated sum.
If the widely-held belief that the board have given AP half a dozen games is correct, then it would appear they have worked a way in which they can afford to part company with him, if it should come to it.
And I fully trust them to negotiate something reasonable if it does . You're not advocating that they meekly hand over whatever his lawyers initially demand, are you , Henry ?
Once in negotiation, precedents such as the Ramos case will become highly relevant. Just as if it went to court, case law would come in to play in determining what was fair, just and reasonable...
The encouraging thing about the Ramos case is that ti creates a precedent in which failing managers do not automatically walk away with the entirety of their contract paid up...can't help feeling you rather missed the point I was making!
It also depends on the risk of changing and still getting relegated. As heartbreaking as it would be for Charlton fans to get relegated, I'd imagine that the financial costs of Spurs getting relegated would be far greater that it would be for us for us. For them relegation may pose too much of a cost, making a gamble on change more worthwhile. There is never any guarantee that making the change will get you the results that you want. Just because Redknapp seems to be doing a good job of turning Spurs around at the moment, it does not mean that they are out of trouble. Similarly, getting rid Pardew would not guarantee getting in someone who would do a better job. It's quite feasible that we could shell out millions to rid ourselves of AP only to saddle ourselves with someone less effective and still get relegated.
