Remember, Remember - 20 years ago!

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
Its hard to believe that 1988 was 20 years ago, as when I was a kid anything that long ago was ancient history. But it is exactly 20 years to the day that Charlton played Southampton at the Dell on 5th November 1988. We lost 2-0 in our grey kit that day with Graham Baker and Danny Wallace getting the goals. The only good things I can remember about the day were watching the vast array of fireworks on the coach home and an article in the local Southampton paper about a girl named CATHERINE WHEEL.

Enjoy the pops and fizzes tonight and remember, you don't want to start November 6th with a big bandage on your hand!

  • Tom.If i had a memory as good as yours i would have erased that one immediately.
  • I do seem to have good recall for Charlton scores, especially the late 80's/early 90's.

The 88-89 season was one of the best seasons for going away, had a great crowd in those days. The win at Villa was the best, Leaburn's late winner taking about eighteen deflections before it went in!

    Especially if you're single!
