Welcome from another recent forumista, who left his own mid-life crisis behind some years ago and settled comfortably into late middle-age. I've even convinved myself the grey hair and white beard look quite distinguished now...
Mmm, best team? Well Mr Pardew seems to be saying he hasn't actually quite got around to assembling it yet and Richard Murray has promised him he can bring in another loan signing or two before the Plymouth game. In which case, all bets are off until we know who is about to arrive.
But I think there are already three loanees in your suggested team. Add in a couple more and it's the same old dog's dinner that served us so badly last season, I fear...
Shouldn't the football authorities put a limit on this ? Say, a maximum of three loanees in any match day squad ?
[cite]Posted By: mid_life_crisis[/cite]I can't have Dickson.
I won't bore you with the rationale but you will find, in due course, that I am the biggest advocate on here for Dickson being given a run in the side. Perhaps a long coach journey to the races might be the right opportunity to do so.
[cite]Posted By: mid_life_crisis[/cite]I take it there is no confidence in McLeod then...
He played against Burnley and was clearly not fit enough to do himself justice. As far as I'm concerned he jumped the queue and deserves, therefore, to go behind Dickson.
Moutu and Youga to bomb forward as they are better doing that then defending.
Bailey and Racon to act (either both or to alternate depending on the situation of the game) as minders for the defence.
ZZ to sit in the hole just behind the front 3.
Dickson and Varney to work the channels but drift inside and out and be there at the back post for the full backs' crosses.
Toddy to pull their centre backs all over the show.
With current injury situation substitute Holland for Racon and Ambrose for ZZ.
We wouldn't have scored just 7 goals in the last 11 games with that lot that's for sure. Might have leaked a few more though but it hasn't done Wolves (F 32 A 20) and Reading (F 33 A 16) any harm having that attitude. Especially when there is a realisation that your squad is not capable of consistently nicking games 1-0.
AA - We'll have to disagree on Dickson - but I think the point is, if ever he was going to get a proper chance it would have been at half time last Saturday. IMO, Pardew doesn't rate him & his chances will remain very limited.

I expect it to be
Weaver
Cranie
Hudson
Primus
Youga
Ambrose
Holland
Bailey
Bouazza
Varney
Gray
Wheras we all know that Todorov and Dickson should be up front, Yassin right back, Varney on the wing and Shelvey in the middle.
first thread title- our strongest team?
are you alan pardew looking for ideas?
welcome by the way

Youga has been very in & out, but at his best e.g. Palace at home last season, he is good enough.
For me Semedo has to start and I'm sorry I can't have Dickson.

See you in a few weeks old chap.
I expect that to be Pardew's best team. Possibly Semedo in for Youga though, or Todorov for Gray but his ideal team is something like that.

So, my team would be, with a fully fit squad:

Right, in that case, it's:
PARDEW OUT! PARDEW OUT! PARDEW OUT!
