Relegation Clauses

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
If we go down to the third tier is there a clause in the contracts to cut the wages of the players?

Maybe there ought to be as in my opinion some of the senior players are under performing.

Until Dowie came we used to do it in the Prem in case we got relegated. Surely the impact of relegation from the Championship will be similar albeit with reduced numbers?

  • nice thought but I'd doubt it, may be wrong though.
  • most of the new'ish signings will be on dramaticly smaller wages as it is, any big boys still left if we went down would be sold ASAP to get there wages off the books ala: Weaver, Zheng,Ambrose, Toddy, Gray etc.. The days of Curbs 15k max are long gone top earner would be 10k or just under i would guess, if we go down then hopefully all the youngsters will get more games likes of Elliot in goal Thomas and Mabo in defence , with Jonjo and Wright in centre mid, with dicko and fleetwood up front.
  • They should offer a free season ticket for the first year, if we go down!
  • So thats why Pardew brought Fleetwood and Dickson , to play in the third tier of the football league , the vision of the man is exceptional.

If we go down we'll probably get fans saying we should have kept Barry Fuller and Myles Weston like they do at the moment with Michael Turner...
