best '11'?

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
Sorry to drag things back to the playing squad, but I have to say I think Pards stumbled on close to our best 11 last night at the end, well at least the core of the team anyhow - which many on here and myself have advocated in the past.

Varney goalless but tricky, fast and worrying to full backs looked his best on the right wing, With Gray the aerial threat and Dickson the pacey forward, and Bouzza on the left; I think we are an attacking force. We just need to stick with that arrangement to start with. Its goals we are really lacking so get this right and the rest will fall into place.

As for the rest of the team Moo2 is the best right back we have, Basey for his lack of pace is good enough delivers a great free kick, Hudson can be paired with any of Cranie, Primus or Fortune.

In the middle Bailey, and to be honest any of the others who all have their shortcomings, Ambrose just isn't consistent or effective enough for 90 mins, not sure Wright is close enough to the finished article, Holland is a bit old, Shelvey also not finished article but his corners alone would be a huge help, even Semedo perhaps in tougher games.

  • Racon and ZZ will be in the midfield when fit.
  • ZZ is 'injured' and won't play for us again..

    :)
  • "I have tried to give everyone in my squad a chance, but now it's time for me to go with my best side"

Come on Pards, you can't be serious with this comment. The league started in August and you had all of July for pre season and friendlies, that's four months, and you still don't know who your best team is.

That must be one of the worst quotes in CAFC history.
  • i wouldn't mind but he hasn't even given everyone a chance
  • So now he thinks he knows what his best 11 is. I doubt it but if he does shouldn't he playing them all the time.
  • After taking over in the summer of a Kent County side, I knew very quickly which players I wanted and what players were not up to the task, and I only had 2 nights during pre season and 4 pre season games, and I took 10 new players into the squad. Pards has had a lot longer than me and can work with the players everyday if he wishes. I know that the levels are far apart, but the basics are the same. Give me 10 minutes with the players in the dressing room and I'd make them understand what playing for Charlton means, and don't mean cursing and swearing at them. Simple football guys, don't always try and make the killer pass.

Come on Pardew, you can't say things like that in the press, you should know who your best 11 is near the start of the season.
