Bright Spots

edited November 2008 in General Charlton
few and far between but Wright didn't hide and nor did Basey in difficult circumstances. Shame Grant is so slow. He has the build, an excellent attitude and a good left peg. Rock and Moots were ok too.

    LOL!

One of those 'were we watching the same game?' situations I think.

Agreed on Moutuaokil though, and Gray played OK imho.
  • I thought Wright played ok too. He's a good passer of the ball, but Gray ? was he playing.Weaver made some good saves, otherwise it could have been even worse.

Yes, he was - you may not have noticed as he was one of the few players not to give the ball away....

Can't give away what you don't have
  • [cite]Posted By: KenTred[/cite]if you stare at Stone's post long enough you can see pardew being pushed off the thames barrier by the ghost of jimmy seed

lol very good. I saw Derek Hales pissing on our entire squad.
  • lol PeakieRocket, fair point!

I honestly thought there were far worse players out there though. For someone who usually signs 17 different strikers for their squad, Pardew doesn't teach people how to give them any service, so it's always difficult!!

  • Sorry, I just dont rate him.Our strikers at the moment are the least effective of any i can remember, for a long time. JJ, Bartlett and even Leaburn would outscore them, and hold the ball up better. When you think we could have had Ebankes Blake for the same price. Thats not hindsight, I said it at the time.
  • I thought Moutouakil was our best player on the pitch. Only him and Weaver really looked up for the game I thought.
  • JJ - not after his first 5 games or whatever it was.
Bartlett - ageed, that's becuase he was Premiership quality.
Leaburn - some people have short memories.

Gray has proved he can do it in this league, I don't think he is the problem. I think the lack of service, and the partner who stands on his toes every time the ball gets near the box, is more to blame.

As an example, answer me this - Gray and Ebanks-Blake, or Varney and Ebanks-Blake? Know which I'd go for.

its a harsh man that can criticise Josh Wright today when our front 2 were woeful no comunication no ideas challenging for the same ball on several occasions the real reason for our points this year apart from pardew is those 2 couldnt hit a barn door

yet once again we look to our midfield same last year as this

Varney is shit and Gray has yet to show me anything other than he is a cart horse waiting to be shot fuk them 2 off as quick as pardew
  • Lack of any sort of movement worries me.....nobody seems able or willing to find space.....We are totally predictable....4-5 strikers? and not one of them can buy a goal at the moment....having said that its a team game...when we find that, we might stand a chance
  • one bright spot i had was the thought of those millwall fans sat in that stand down in Brighton in that pouring rain.
  • Wright did ok, always wanted the ball, challenged for the ball, not scared to try longer or harder passes. Probably made more passes than any other player on our team.

He made mistakes, but its the same thing with Yassin and Cranie - none of them are scared to get the ball under control and try and be calm under pressure, so they do give it away at times. They're all young players, and they'll make better decisions with experience. Wright certainly isn't a worse passer than anyone else in our squad, already one of the best.

Cranie was trying a lot of long balls - but I think he's seeing that we're not creating a lot, and was getting a bit desperate.

Pardew will put Primus and Holland back in next week for experience. Same as usual, he changes things around in the hope it'll suddenly click and we'll go on a run.
  • I thought we looked okay until they scored.
  • i thought we looked alrite in the warm up amazing how 2 mins change a game
