Does the board have the bottle to sack another manager ?

I suspect not.

  • More importantly, do they have the money???
  • have even less in league 1
  • Feel the board we have always have the best interests of Charlton at heart. Big decisions to make but I still trust them to get it right.
  • Charlie we are a mess on the pitch just now but the board have us on a secure financial footing when lots of clubs are not. They almost succeeded in bringing in major new investment and feel sure that the will to find another potential investor is still there. This board is one we can trust and be proud of imho.

Back to the original question, its a good one and i'm sure its one they are asking themselves tonight.

    The bottom line is..........

I'm all for giving managers time and support, and not jumping on bandwagons, but i honestly can't see how they can have any other choice now. Pardew has failed, not deliberately like Seth said, but he has failed none the less. Its a shame he isn't man enough to admit it, hold his hands up and walk away, so sadly that decision will now have to be taken for him.
  • Agree I am sorry to say AFKA. Would like him to turn it around but I can see nothing which gives me the confidence to think he can. Plymouth and Birmingham coming up next. Can anyone seriously see us getting even a point ?
  • Problem i see is that with Pardew in charge with his lack of motivation and abiltiy the next time i can realy see us picking up points is Southampton at home.
and by that time we could be a long away adrift
  • Can't you ban him AFKA. Please???

The danger is we bring in a new manager prior to these games and being tough games we do well but lose both, maybe we should get through one, sack him have a week to get the new man in while the 2nd game is handled by Kins and Parkinson and then have the new man in prior to the next home game, when the crowd are lifted and we can build a momentum.

And that is another thing they fecked up on.[/quote]

You undermine the credibiltiy of your comments when you make such a fatuous mis informed comment.
  • Pardew has to take the blame but what of the players?
Some of them (actually most of them) need to take a good long look at their lack efforts.

  • please just ignore this man he is a bore, rising to him justs lights his fire, Maybe he is right maybe he is wrong but nothing pleasees me more knowing that as he resides in yorkshire he will be the butt of many a northern monkeys jokes.

on the topic i feel they will have no choice the verdict from the stand was clear today there is no coming back from that for any manager

I'm amazed that we we are performing so badly on-one else has said this. What ever the shortcomings of the manager, the players really need to take a long look at themselves.

To me they simply don't seem to be performing for the manager and it is for that reason I think that Pardew has to go.
  • Not a question of having the 'bottle'. More a case of reaching the point where even the most cautious board is going to conclude they have no other choice.

It's 42 matches since he delivered back-to-back wins. Over the last few weeks we have watched helplessly as the team has degenerated into the most dysnfunctional Charlton side since relegation to div 3 in 79-80.

As I said in another thread, he's talked about us being a team 'in recovery'. Well, the dictionary says 'recovery' means getting better. Does anyone really believe the patient is going to improve until after he's gone ? Under Pardew the condition is now surely terminal .

It's no good looking for quack peddling a miracle cure because we all know they don't exist. But there might be a chance someone can slowly revive the patient and nurse us back to something approaching health with some intensive TLC.

We're surely getting to the point where it will take 'bottle' for the board to keep him.
  • One trusts they have noticed since Spurs sacked their manager, they've picked up seven points (and scored eight goals) in seven days...

This how I feel AFKA. I have tried to give the bloke a real chance. I had reservations about him when he before us. When he arrived, I liked his positivity and it seemed for a short while that he was going to work miracles and keep us up in the Prem. Now I doubt he has the skill set to turn this around and keep us out of Division 1.

There are risks with all decisions. The risk of removing him is that it will disrupt things more - like in the Dowie scenario. The risk of keeping him in place is that nothing he has done thus far suggests he can turn this around. I suppose it would help if the Board had a potential replacement lined up. Well step forward Messrs Davies, or Curbishley or anybody else decent.
  • You don't have to look much further than our North london friends. Ramos had a good CV but lost the plot, the dressing room and the fans in time.
He had to go in the end, he was never going to turn it round and I don't see how Pardew can either.
  • What's the worse that could happen if the board tell him, 'Empty your locker now, hand over the office keys and here's three months pay in lieu of notice' ... ?

He'll try and sue us for more and look like a complete greedy twat. Then there'll be an out-of-court-settlement in which he gets a little bit more but nothing like the whole of his remaining contract.

    Let's do it.
