Every MacLeod has a silver lining

I think this is the man to drag us out of the mire!

He must be desperate to get a game under his belt and if he gets a few goals early on could be a bit useful.....and I would not be surprised if Fleetwood & Dickson had a contribution to make too.

I must be going barmy because I am adamant that we will be OK this season - but I think we will have a great run in a short while

  • ridicule is nothing to be scared of Swis..
  • Well he can;t do worse than what's had their chance so far - depsite NSS saying otherwise :-)

Hope you're not including "no starts" Dickson in that.

They will need to form an orderly queue behind messrs Gray and Varney and probably wait for an injury/suspension to get their chance as a total of 12 goals in 13 games is a plentiful return you know.
  • is that what their stats are......

In that case gray and varney it is , who by the way, I have been a strong advocate of sticking with.

Erm the whole team have scored 12 goals - not just those two...

.....and of those 2 were pens and 1 was an og!
  • Only 2 pens all season ..... and none for 9 games.

Don't our players bring the ball into the box any more......?

My comment was meant to be ironic but I missed the "team" from "total of 12 goals". I've championed Dickson's cause on other threads (Our Best Up Front Combination for example) but have, up until recently, been shot down in flames by the argument that Varney and Gray's work ethic are sufficient in themselves to warrrant keeping them in the side.
  • McLeod was shocking in front of goal, lacking confidence in the few games he started but he did scare the living you know what out of quite a few teams if I remember rightly with his pace, Norwich for instance, West Brom. I have always maintained by the law of averages one of pardews unknown transfer punts in the striker department has got to come good. Varney as much as he works hard for the team doesn't appear to have the instinct in front of goal and may be better suited out wide or slightly deeper. Gray seems like a journeyman to me, he is what he is and is not going to get better, Todorov I like but may have had a few to many injuries to lead the line week in week out. Time for pardew to give one of Mcleod, Dickson, or Fleetwood a fair crack, and to be honest mcleod has a little more pedigree at this point.

  • He hasn't been given a chance! Pardew seems to have bought him on a whim so noone else could and then proceeded to run the poor sods confidence into the ground along with our help.

He won us the Norwich game last year (2 Reidy pens, god that seems a long time ago now) and if he had scored the one on one against Palace he would have hit a purple patch. The best we looked last year up top was with him and Varney against Wet Bum.

All no good though if the forwards don't see much of the ball as he is not one to make it stick, however I think if he were to leave and play at this level for someone else he would be a handful at least.
  • You can bet anything you like he'd score a hat trick against us!

Gray (v old club) plus either Dickson or Mcleod up front on Sat for me, plus Varney out wide.
