To be fair

Bristol City were pretty good once they scored.

  • They didn't break a sweat all night I thought. We were abysmal, but they played some neat stuff and took their chances.
  • They had a system we couldn't deal with. Pump the ball up to the front man, he heads it back to the midfeld who are now swamping our half and then they get the ball into the box. Simple yet we fell for it every time.
  • They worked hard and did the basics well which is mostly what this league is all about.........and unfortunately what we aren't about.
  • They are an excellent side, were last year also. Organised and know the way they are going to play. I wish we knew how we were going to play. You can only blame the coaching staff for the way we approach games. We have good players at the club but have no idea. Bristol switch players in and out but the team pattern is fundamentally the same. I thought they murdered us second half and if it wasn't for primus and Weaver they'd have had a hatful.
  • We dominated the game until Baileys mistake.

After that it was too easy. Long ball they deal with all day long. We're not physical enough to do that and it's one of our main problems in this league.

We also have defenders who can't defend. Midfielders who don't create and forwards who can't score. It's not looking good.
  • Spot on DR Addick, as long as you're well organised you'll do well in this league-Bristol City are testament to that, no stars, but they all know their job when they've got the ball and when they're defending. Unfortunately, bar the first 25 minutes, we looked rubbish on both fronts.

Spot on we were by far the better team. They scored and we drained of confidence so much that within a couple of minutes it could have been 2 if adebola hadn't headed straight at Weaver.

What i dont get is what Pardew must say to them at half time they came out and wasn't at the races
  • Thought it was a game of three thirds - we were in charge for the first 30 minutes, but the confidence just drained away once they scored.

What they did well was get on the break at pace, usually with three or four players getting forward.

We had some good chances but just didn't take them, which seems to be coming the story of our season.
  • I wasn't there but the stats say we should have won, we had 52% possesion had 4 shots more on target and 6 more off we had more corners and were fouled more do these stats reflect the game?

What we don't do is compress the play when we are trying to pressure them. We can be attacking and a move breaks down but because three or four of our defenders are still in our half, there is plenty of space for the oppo to play out of trouble, usually to counter attack us. It's a dodgy ploy against forwards with the pace of Dickson, Varney or McLeod, but not a lumbering ageing forward like Adebola.

  • Goals change games I know I am stating the obvious but Gray scores rather than hitting the post & game could have been different. What i was not happy with was the 10 minute spell straight after half time, game was over then.
