Last three Charlton home games have seen one win and two defeats, last three Bristol away games have earned just a single point.

City last win at Valley - 1967/68

Last season 1-1

Unavailable - Hudson, Semedo - Banned

  • No idea what the team will be but guess that because of defensive changes he will keep Varney & Gray up front. I go for a win because they've got to - it's a s simple as that.
  • City for me were the best footballing side I saw down the Valley last season, even better than Westbrom. However they have lost some players (that guy to Palace who ran the show). They will have great support and it will be a very tough game, they are great at set pieces so we will have to watch out there.

I can see us just scrapping it by the odd goal! However everybody knows what Charlton are like you will know if we will win after the first 5 minutes!

    COME ON YOU REDS!
  • Cant see us scoring.

They play some good stuff and can see them hitting us on the counter.

    2-0 city
  • We'll lose 3-0.

    Have a man sent off.

To which Pardew will say a referee decision cost us tonight.

And we'll all moan about another shit performance for the next few days.

    Or we'll win 4-1
  • Valley of Woe for us tonight, always fancy us at home but not tonight I'm afraid.
  • Some quotes from Gary Johnson:

Armed with lucrative parachute payments, the South London club has spent heavily in the transfer market and Pardew is under pressure to deliver a quick return to the Premiership. City boss Johnson senses an opportunity to take advantage of opponents who are struggling to shoulder the burden of heightened expectation.

"Given where Charlton are at the moment, they'll be disappointed with their form," claimed Johnson. "It's now up to us to keep them disappointed.

"When a team drops out of the Premiership, the supporters always expect them to bounce straight back. That's definitely the case at Charlton.

"They're still getting the parachute payments and have a lot of money to spend. They have spent a lot of that already, but you have to bring in the right players.

"Charlton are a big club with a Premiership structure and a good manager. But they are struggling at the moment and we have to try and take advantage of that.

"It's not our pressure, it's theirs' to deal with."
  • In my honest opinion it's either 0-0 or 0-1, unless we start Dicko and Varns instead of the lazy shot shy Gray.... ok so i'm not in a wonderful mood this morning but still!
  • WE WILL WIN TONIGHT ON A CRISP EVENING IN SE7 2-0
  • I fear for us tonight.

I have feeling that this could be where it all comes to a head.

Pardew is on the brink of loosing the fans completely. Another shocker tonight and I think the crowd will turn.

We'll be playing a team of averages Joe's who will work their arses off, will be well organised and no a thing or too about set pieces. Everything we aren't at the moment.

The suspesions will hit us hard - Cranie or Youga at CB - what a nightmare choice to make. Both are as bad as each other.

0-2 and large amount of booing and Pardew out cries I'm affraid

    Are you sure? : - )
  • 3 - 0 charlton. Mcleod hat trick.

    Weaver
    View2akil, Cranie, Primus, Youga
    Bouazza, Ambrose, Bailey, Basey
    Mcleod, Young Reg.
  • If Charlton score first, 1-1.

If Bristol City score first, then who knows? Doubt we'll get back into it. The booing will start and the 'Pards must go' undercurrent will take another swell of the tides towards becoming a tsunami.

If we lose , Pards to blame suspensions, take-over uncertainty, the crowd, the ref, the lino, the ghost of Jimmy Seed, the music at half-time and the rising price of petrol (with his usual disregard for the facts completely overlooking that it's actually been coming down over the last few weeks)...
  • Another draw but a much better performance. Cranie to me man of the match at CH and Moo2 to look great going forward and dodgy defending.

Izele or Dickson will come off the bench to score.

    The ref will be rubbish.

Every Charlton mistake will be greeted by variations of "you'll be gone when the take over happens/hope the take over happens soon we need a new team"
  • I have good, good, good, good vibrations about tonight !

No logic, just think that not only will we win, we'll play well as well.

Boazza is due a performance, and i think it will happen tonight.

    COME ON YOU ADDICKS !!
  • This is one for mental strength, If we get it down, show good movement and dont get frustrated by Citys niggly fouls and ankle taps then why shouldnt we turn them over, they are inconsistent, we are inconsistent.

All we really need is belief (which I believe Pards has instilled in the players) and composure (lacking in recent games)

    Time for a performance
    2-0 Addicks
  • were winning 3 in a row i have a sneaky suspicion. varns is gonna come gd and yassin to stay in the team. well we can dream anyway
  • Just turn up, create a terrific Valley atmosphere - and actually SUPPORT the team for once!
  • Hopefully if the weather is a bit fowl tonight alot of the plastic addicks will give the game a miss and and so just leaving us lot in attendence to make some noise and get the place rocking, like the west brom cup game. Should be 20k plus tonight i hope. can see Dickson or Wright comming off the bench and making an impact. 2-1 to us now i reckon. Ambrose first then they equalise, they run us ragged people start booing on comes Dickson... 2-1.

Ok That was 45 Mins ago and now I am awake I think 2-1 to CAFC, Goals from Varney and Basey of all people and good corners etc with Basey and Shelvey in Midfield We will win... we will.... We Must

    My team:

    Weaver
    Mouts---Cranie---Primus---Youga
    Ambrose--Bailey--Holland(45)--Basey(70) (fkg27)
    Todorov(60)
    Varney(g44)

    Subs
    Elliott
    Shelvey(45)
    Wright
    Bouazza(70)
    Dickson(60)

decided i'd be over technical and go wild with my prediction.
  • We aren't good enough to beat Bristol City. We could scrape a draw as it's a home game but unlikely.
  • 4-1

Solid classy display and selection headache for Pards at the weekend.

    Gray, Gray(p), Varney and Dickson

Brizzle will take the lead with a cracker of a free kick

Announcement before kickoff that the takeover goes through and we will be getting around £35m to spend in January

I just read all this in my tea leaves!
  • AS I've said on here a couple of times Crainie looks like he is a centre-half not a right-back (ie can defend but offers absolutely nothing going forward).

So if Pardew uses the suspension as a chance to play him there and put Moo2 in at right-back I think we will be pleasantly surprised.

Whether he will have the balls to shake things up in attack is another matter altogether though...

Can i have some of your drugs please?
  • I'm not really bothered I'm just gonna get lagging
  • "It will take a lot of passion, commitment and a lot of good play to go and get something from our game at Charlton. They always start well, but then the crowd can get on top of them if they don't score in the opening 20 minutes.

"We have to win the first 20 minutes and see where we go from there. Confidence is high amongst the lads because we played some good football against Norwich on Saturday."

Gay Johnson pointing out how shit our fans can be.
  • 0-2, we have nothing to threaten up front, and Hudson is suspended.

Wet, cold & miserable, Pards will blame the ref, the pitch, the takeover talks etc, enjoy.

Quite happy to eat humble pie tomorrow after a storming 3-0 win though :-)
