Why does Fleet Street Have it in for us..

Since the offer was first made public, the written press has done nothing but undermine the deal and try there best to feck it up for us. Is it possible that they just dont think we deserve it? that it should be kept in the preimere league? Skysports seem to have been ok with not going on to much about it. When i picked up the Sun on saturday morning my heart dropped with the everton story. It was werid tho how it was back page news then the article inside the papaer was tiny with hardly any substance. I have other non charlton mates who said that we deserve the takeover and to enjoy it after everyhting we have been through why cant the press just back off and let us enjoy it! Can we ban all emails that have 'A Souce close to the club says...' or any mention of West Ham. Everton and Newcastle.

  • because the thought of a team like us with money must be shocking for them. i mean it is not chelsea, liverpool, man u or arsenal

The press have got the hump, cause they never got wind of it, before it was annoched. They never like there noses put out of joint.

I think everyone are just far too sensitive.
  • I don't think they do "have it in for us". More like they just don't care much about us.

Charlton maybe being taken over is, in their eyes, a small story. West ham, Everton, Liverpool, Newcastle maybe being taken over is a much bigger story to them which will generate more hits, more letters/emails etc as those clubs have bigger fan bases.

When and if the deal goes thru expect, "big club heartbroken to miss out on dosh as little old Charlton get taken over" headlines quickly followed by "Will newly rich Charlton steal a champs league/premier league place off big club XXXX who deserve it more as their fans are super loyal?"

That way they can link a "big" name to a "little" club story. That's the way it will be until, with luck in a few years, they see us as a big club
  • i think the reason we are sensitive is because we can see things going tits up on and off the pitch and really this takeover is vital to our future.
  • Football hates a vaccumn and due dilligence creates one, so the press need to keep the story live, and it gets clicks on their websites from football fans desperate for any news.

Until we/Zebeel make an announcement it's all just gossip
  • Bore off Journos

    Bore off Rumours

    Bore off crap red-top rags

JUST TELL US, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHAT'S GOING ON!!
  • Agree with northstandsteve.
  • I saw a thread on Addickted over the weekend and people were saying things like

"why did we have to go public?"
"Why don't the club tell us whats happening"
"Put us out of our misery"

    etc etc.

Frankly it beggars belief to be honest...

  • I think whats far more likely is being fans we see every single little article on the subject. If it was about another team we just wouldnt pay as much attention. Im sure they'd still be spinning their bullsh*t stories regardless you just wouldnt be so aware of it.
