Just got back myself. Thought we played well for the first 20 minutes, then when we once we went one down never looked liked coming back.
How we never even got a free kick never mind a yellow or red card for when Ambrose nearly had his head taken off was a complete joke.
As for the individual performances of the players, only Weaver, Primus and Bailey can take any credit from that performance. The rest were either not good enough or simply did not want to show. Yet again our performances on the road show we ware not good enough with the current set up of players to go up.
I had a great day out & thanks to Stanmore Addick for the lift. Thought we played well for first 20 minutes & we were well on top. If only Varney hadn't slipped over twice when 1 on 1 with Cardiff keeper during this period, it might have been a different story. But we then conceded a sloppy goal, that you have to lay the blame for at Weaver's door, & our heads seemed to drop.
I also thought we battled well for most of the 2nd half despite Semedo & then Hudson being sent off. We were just trying to keep the score down though. The referee, and linesmen, are all pretty poor in this division & we saw that again today with some downright baffling decisions, all of them against us. They don't ever seemed prepared to make a tough decision in favour of the away team. They always go for the easy option. Ambrose nearly had his head kicked off while jumping for a ball but we got nothing. Semedo should never have been sent off & Hudson will be unlucky to ever be booked again for challenges like today's.
There is defenitely something missing from our team though, and I'm just not sure what it is. Class, desire, commitment, attitude, ability?? I can't quite put my finger on it but there's something not right.
Let's be honest, we have a limited, pretty average team at the moment & if we are not careful we ARE going to be involved in a battle to stay in this division.
I couldn't possibly disagree with the above comments. I think all the takeover talk has taken away somewhat from the fact that on the pitch we have major, major issues which if we are not careful could mean a serious battle just to stay at this level, Pardew and the team (give or take a few) really arent cutting it right now and its really quite worrying.
[cite]Posted By: mascot88[/cite]maybe pardew is feeling 'here we go again'
maybe he doesnt care and he knows something we dont hence hes so nonchalant...
who knows....
all I know is we are no tperforming
Yes. That's probably right. He probably said to the team, "to hell with my reputation or yours as professionals, let's play as badly as possible. I don't care. THE ARABS ARE COMING! THE ARABS ARE COMING"

Good and fair summary of events, this. Just too many off days, with a team that raised its game and a ref doing us no favours.

I meant more, that last time there was a take over he ended up out on his ear....
but your prob right, im probably talking rubbish....
is it that we simply think , the players that we have are better than they really are????
We have a French under 21 captain who can`t get a game. A 17 year old with class who can`t make the bench. A striker (Dickson) who has never been given a chance even when our current strikers can`t score in a brothel. Remember it was Pardew that thought Tevez and Maschrano were not good enough for a West Ham team at the bottom of the league. I think Pardew can be questioned as to his decision making to be honest.
I was there and stood in the Bob Bank, the home terrace running the length of the pitch, and I have to say Kelly Youga is WOEFUL.......in fact that doesn't adequately sum it up. The Cardiff fans burst out laughing at him at one point. It wasn't even abuse they could just see how terrible he is.
That said, I think his selection and that of Craine is the only thing you can have a dig at Pardew about. What was the point of brining off Cranie at half time?? Was he injured? Also taking off Gray when we went down to 9 was a bit daft too. Surely you might as well go for it and replacing him with Basey didn't help that quest.
But, as my Cardiff City supporting mate said at the end, there was nothing between the sides.
I have to agree that Primus and Bailey were stand out performers. But the look on Varney's face as he stretched to chase down every hopeful long ball knocked forward when we had 11, 10 and 9 players has made him my favourite player of the current crop. He gave absolutely everything. I know many of you season ticket holders have said this before, but as I don't get to many games these days it was the first time I saw it for myself. Felt sorry for the lad.
I personally thought the sending offs were fair, although Hudson's first yellow was a bit harsh. He shouldn't have gone charging into Bothroyd - who was excellent by the way - after that though.
Basey in for Youga on Tuesday. I presume Cranie will play right back. Youga will no doubt slot in at centre half although if I was Pardew I would've have stopped the coach on the way home yesterday and left him outside a charity shop.
Frustrating thing about Youga is he was good when we got him back from Scunthorpe. Seem to be showing why we sent him out on loan in the first place now. Basey's more reliable but the Reading game showed he can struggle against pace, hopefully with experience he'll deal with a player like that better. Will Pardew drop Youga though?
But Basey IS a defender. I'm not sure what Youga is. He's got quite a good touch and I think that's why Pardew likes him. My biggest concern is there doesn't seem to be any structure right across the team.
I can't put my finger on what I mean. I suppose it's because we're losing a lot at the moment but they all look a bit clueless.
It doesn't look like a team, I think that's what I mean.
parents are welsh and when i was 16 moved to cardiff, god that was 21 years ago. i still have a season ticket though. how come your in bristol? are you going tuesday?
In my mind he has a little too much confidence in his own ability, which is sometimes lacking, twice this year ive seen him trying to juggle the ball on the edge of the area which has made us get into trouble. Perhaps he lacks experience as he doesnt seem to know when to release the ball or just plain launch it into the stand. Another frustrating player.
[cite]Posted By: ShootersHillGuru[/cite]Said it before and say it again.........we dont have a decent top six championship fullback at the club.
Kind of agree but Semedo has always done a good job at full back, Yassin is potentially a very good player, yet we keep signing right backs on loan who are no better.
Mills was good until his last few games, never rated Halford, Cranie doesn't look any better.

Spot on. The ref lost the plot once he did nothing after the Cardiff player did his best impression of Bruce Lee on Ambrose. How he gave us a corner was a mystery, though the Silver fox of a lino did not help.
Semedo had to go i'm afraid, though i thought it was well inside the box. Game over once the free kick went in.
It seems at the moment, that once we go behind in a game, we do not look likely to get something out of the game. That needs addressing fast.

A very lazy performance. No lessons learnt.
Today has left me completely bewildered.
Apart from the game, it was a nice day out!!!! pmfs

Varney a goalscorer? looks conference standard at best. one on one with the keeper and hits it straight at the keeper.
Pardew's days are numbered if we keep putting in performances likes that.
Left 20 minutes early, honestly couldnt bare to watch anymore of the game.

He is a confidence player without doubt and don't think he has any since Pardew slagged him off after the last friendly defeat
