[cite]Posted By: boggzy[/cite]As should all new players.
Can you imagine Marcus Bent sitting through it?...
I asked Mark Kinsella the same sort of question at a Dartford meeting many moons ago, ie, did he know about the clubs recent history, did the club provide info for new players etc, he did say no, but obviously as he got to know and started to discuss things with long standing club staff he got a better picture of our whole history.
I for one think it would be a good thing for the club to introduce a brief history pack for any new signings, where we have come from, our support, our role in the community (of which I believe we are one of the best in the country) bankruptcy etc.
Every company I have joined do some sort of heads up with this sort of thing.
I can see the advantages, but I don't think it should be shown as a matter of course. It strikes me that it mightn't give the first impression you'd want if played to an impressionable young player on the day they joined. You might give them the idea that the club is close to the brink. It might also look as if we are too bothered about the past to worry about the future. I'd think its better as something for the manager to have it up his sleeve in case of a lucklustre performance. If I was the manager, they'd have seen it about 30 times last season.

To be honest, its a nice sentiment but they could not give a tuppeny. I can see that showing it to trainees and their parents woudl be beneficial. Having said that i think Curbs used it to persuade Di canio to come to us.

I wouldn't use it for motivation for current players but for new signings to give them a better idea of what we are about, it would be like a phoenix from the flames, it would be quite inspiring, what the Valley and the club used to be like/looked like, derelict, bankrupt etc and then what the club has achieved since, Valley Party, promotions, championship winners, Play offs, redeveloped ground, premiership, England players etc, would show the club in a good light IMO.
