Cardiff v Charlton - Pre match thoughts and poll

edited October 2008 in General Charlton
There was a time pre-DDD (Dubai Due Dilegence) when the occassional splattering of football talk would break out on this forum !

With the Addicks doing the double over Cardiff last season, how do you see this one going ?

In our 33 games at Ninian Park, we've won 12, lost 16, drawn 5.

Who would you play, what formation, what do we have to do to win, who at Cardiff will be their danger ?

Lets get some actual football chat going again, the floor is yours......

hear hear and can everyone please be a bit nicer to each other on here, less witch hunts and jumping on people would be nice.

I am going but have free tickets in the home end... and as I'm brassic and the price of diesel I may have to suffer it.

Its hard to separate current events from this game, but the players and managements heads maybe elsewhere so I am a bit concerned on that front.

Take a note from Capellos book and stick to 442, ambrose replacing Sam, ZZ in for Holland assuming Bailey is fit. Varney and Grey up front with a place on the bench perhaps for both our reserve goal scorers.

I think this hangs on Pards ability to change it round, so I'm going for a Cardiff win, sorry..
  • I'm going and hopefull.... Mind you i said that about QPR last season.

Maybe the "potential" new owners may be on Pardew's mind but i doubt it with the players.

    Probably be a scrappy 0.0
  • I'm going, but need to check if I can get a ticket on the gate
  • I've gone for the draw. I think it will be scrappy occasion with us going up there to disrupt their play rather than play our own game. I can see Pardew starting 451 hoping to keep it 0-0 with around 20 minutes to go then switching to 442 and hope to catch them on the break late on.
Personally i'd start 442 and go at them from the off as I believe we play better this way. Ledley and Bothroyd will be their biggest dangermen against us I'd imagine and 2 to keep an eye on.

let's perservere with KY and hopefully he will cut down on the stupid stuff as he gains experience
Gray looked sharp when he came on against Ipswich so I'd stick with him.

    Cardiff City 0

  • I voted Cardiff, only cos I hit the wrong checkbox... grrrrr. Charlton 2=1 win.

it is a little bit technical I guess

  • We'll either see a determined Charlton performance as Manager & Players alike realise they are now playing for their futures, or we'll see another spinless display which they'll try to blame on the Takeover...... So It'll be a draw then :-)
  • Draw for me...not much point in naming who Id like to see play as it wont happen....none so blind as those that cannot see. Hear hear to Razil's comment too....the site has lost a lot of its appeal due to over zealous posting and witch hunts
  • going with a comfotable 1-3 win

although little apprehensive how the boys come out and play with the whole buy out thing.

Hopefully they will either play out there skins until crimbo and hope they don't get replaced and esp some ala ambnrose are playin for contracts.

and also this is on Baily being fit, he doesn't play we're fooked
  • With all this takeover talk, really not sure what influence (if any) this will have on Pardew and the players. Can see us losing, with the press gloating afterwards bout what a rubbish investment we are.

Still looking forward to the day out, first time I have seen us play overseas!
  • Would take a draw.

    Weaver
    Semedo Hudson Primus Basey
    Ambrose ZZ Bailey Bouazza
    Varney Gray

After this we have 3 home games all close together against Bristol/Burnley and Barnsley. If we really want to challenge we should be thinking 9 points from them.
  • id go wit dazzler21s team but with the bench of elliot, youga,zz,sam, todorov

  • Weaver
    Semedo
    Hudson
    Primus
    Youga

    Ambrose
    Bailey
    Zheng
    Bouazza

    Toderov
    Varney

    Subs
    Elliott
    Basey
    Shelvey
    Holland
    Gray
  • Crikey, a match to think about...almost forgotten what one of those is with everythign else going on. Would settle for a draw in this one, though it would be nice to win a couple in a row for a change!

  • Weaver

    Semedo--Primus--Hudson--Youga
    --Varney---Bailey--Shelvey---ZZ---Ambrose----
    Todorov

Subs: Gray, Elliot, Holland, Basey, Sam*

*This is who i'd play but team will no doubt be completely different.
  • [cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]I'm going, but need to check if I can get a ticket on the gate

i wouldn't worry too much... they lied last year... all ticket blah blah blah, i saw cash turnstiles

  • Rose tinted, la la, la!
If the deal depended on our result Saturday, then we just wouldnt do it!
  • 2-0 to Charlton...Cardiff is a tough away game but I don´t think the players will waste this chance to impress at a time when the club might take a giant step forward.
  • ....................Weaver.................
    Moutaouakil ..Semedo..Hudson..Youga
    Ambrose.....Bailey......Zhi....Bouazza
    ...............Gray.....Varney...........

    Subs
    Primus
    Basey
    Holland
    Todorov
    Sam

Thats got to be the best team!
  • Read that Joe Ledley is ruled out injured
  • Cardiff will beat us comfortably. I don't fancy us picking up many points away this season. Home form therefore is vital.
  • With the euphoria of the last week, the Ipswich result the overall positive atmosphere .... it has to be a Cardiff win 3-0
  • Will be a tough game, they haven't lost that many this season, I will be happy with a point.
  • Went for a point but that was my heart ruling my head.

As is the case for a lot of people if half of those voting think we're gonna win there.
  • [cite]Posted By: Kap10[/cite]With the euphoria of the last week, the Ipswich result the overall positive atmosphere .... it has to be a Cardiff win 3-0

    LOL

If we win it will be the takeover talk boosting the players

If we lose it will be the takeover talk distracting the players

If we draw it will be Pardew's fault : - )

I think we will win if Bailey is fit. A little bit of confidence from the Ipswich game and I think we are on the up. Cardiff aren't anything special so 2 - 1 away win.
  • Think we should probably stick with the team that beat Ipswich - with Semedo instead of Cranie, but I like the look of Mart77's team.
