Izzy's back

edited October 2008 in General Charlton
Just back from the reserves game tonight. Although we lost 2-3 to a useful looking Gillingham side, on the plus side Izale Mc leod came on in the second half ,and scored with a well taken goal. Chris Dickson opened the scoring, but neat finishes by the visitors saw them take a 3-1 lead. Mc leod looked sharp and showed some nice touches before making it 3-2. Rob Elliot made some good saves in the Charlton goal.

  • That's encouraging to hear Bexley - with McLeod scoring on his first competitive comeback game, that'll do his confidence & self belief wonders. A little composure on the ball will soon bring him up to Championship level.

With Dicko scoring again tonight, and Fleetwood picking up a couple of League goals for Cheltenham recently, our raft of reserve strikers look well capable of challenging for the 1st team.
  • can't see where Aguero and Torres will fit in now.....
  • From the OS report: "The Gills, though, did draw level on the stroke of half-time. Shelvey gave the ball away in his own penalty area ....... "

    Uncle, have a word.

    ;o)
  • Mixed fortunes tonight for Dicko.

    From the OS:

    1) The Addicks should have gone in front as early as the second minute when an excellent dummy by Wagstaff saw him skip past his marker on the left and cross for Dickson, who sliced his effort wide from 12 yards.

    2) But Dickson made amends three minutes later by putting the Addicks in front. The striker cut in from the right before hitting a fierce left-footed shot past Gillingham goalkeeper Alan Julian from the edge of the area.

    3) Charlton almost began the second half in the same way they had the first, but this time Dickson's drive from 20 yards crashed back off the inside of the post.

Sounded like Dicko was well involved, claiming the statutory 1 goal from 3 chances, as strikers generally do.
  • Why doesn't pards give Dickson a run in the side ?
  • one minute people are accusing Pards of chopping and changing and not knowing his best side, the next minute accuse him of the opposite!
  • In my opinion there is no problem in chopping and changing so long as it is with a limited amount of players and all of which must have talent.
