How very dare they?

Trying to steal our thunder!

A cash-rich buyer, meanwhile, has indicated that he is ready to purchase West Ham if the crisis in Iceland's economy does persuade owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson to sell. Sources in the City say that Gudmundsson strongly rebuffed firm interest in the club at the end of last week from the potential investor, who has been described as a "serious" overseas businessman.

Despite having lost an estimated £230 million over the past week following the nationalisation of Landsbanki, Gudmundsson also yesterday gave fresh assurances that his long-term commitment to West Ham remained unaffected by the Icelandic banking crisis.

Gudmundsson led a consortium that bought West Ham for £85 million in 2006 and the club are now worth around £150 million.

The Premier League conducted a thorough inspection of West Ham's finances at the start of the season as part of the routine due diligence to which all clubs are subjected as a condition of the league's licensing system. The League's understanding is that Gudmundsson's financing of West Ham is confined to his personal fortune, which should in theory be beyond the reach of the Icelandic authorities.

West Ham are also fighting a potential £30 million compensation claim from Sheffield United and have been given renewed hope following the response to their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Headed by Manchester United director Maurice Watkins, the club's new legal team have written a detailed document which forcefully argues that the FA's statutes do not exclude an appeal to the CAS.

  • It´s probably Anil Ambani they talk about...Indian tycoon worth something like £20bn before the financial crisis, probably £10-15bn right now.

Not even close to the Al-Nahyan or Maktoum family fortunes so don´t think to much about that.
  • MCFC....really nice to have a sensible poster from another club mate, thanks for all your contributions mate

    Cheers TelinOz & Co

As I mentioned somewhere I joined the forum to keep track of your takeover but like with us it´s just a long wait interrupted by intensive soulsearching done by fans who either are jubilant or apprehensive of the whole situation.
So I tend to post more than I thought I would.

To be honest mate, I don't believe you. I reckon you're really Nicky Weaver's pork pie salesman stalker, just looking for his address!
