[cite]Posted By: CHG[/cite]I have been accused of being a hypocrite, I personally have verbally attacked Chelsea, Q.P.R and Man City saying that the cash involved in these takeovers is obscene and ruining our game. However, since we have been linked with a similar takeover my thoughts have changed, I think that I was jealous of these clubs and used the 'properly run club' arguement to make myself feel that our way is the only way. Whichever way you look at it, sadly it is not. I know for a fact that I have been watching Charlton for twenty years and am interested to see what happens in the next few months, I dont feel angry, I honestly feel excited, that is my natural reaction.
Welcome to the billionaires club CHG..Your membership card is in the mail! lol
But rest assured that thousands of City fans that had been slagging of clubs like United and Chelsea on a regular basis found it very easy to contemplate currently being the richest club in the world, it´s amazing how much better I sleep at night nowadays actually and that´s for me the biggest gain.
No more worried looks at our finances, no more rumours that players are leaving, no more agents our clubs sniffing around like vultures, no credit crunch..this ability to just shut all the financial worries out is what having the club taken over by Sheik Mansour have given me and for this I´m bleeding grateful.
And regardless of what happens in the future I will always carry the memory of when City was "The" club everyone was vary about, and that regardless of us ever winning a trophy...
The model run by Charlton (and Reading where the guy refused to subsidise the team) has to be more attractive to outside investment than a flash brand like the bar codes where the owner is openly looking to double his money in a year while simultaneously taking a club from mid-table to the bottom!
I don't know much about middle east culture but there is an angle regarding loyalty, values and strength - look at how Man City are backing Mark Hughes - For this reason I suspect Mr Curbishley may be in the background!
This might satisfy those who are locked into the 90s Charlton ride which we all enjoyed. As people have written elsewhere I hope this is another milestone on the way to making Charlton a major London club.
As CHG says comments about big money takeovers elsewhere maybe down to jealousy amongst other things - personally I was seething when Ecclestone and co piled into QPR as I would have had them in SE7!
personally I was seething when Ecclestone and co piled into QPR as I would have had them in SE7!
Dodged a bullet there I think. Too many people involved who, I think, have unrealistic expectations of what QPR are i.e, more Uxbridge road than Notting Hill.
You are getting very close to the core values of the Gulf Emiratis there, basically it´s still very much about your tribe, clan and family in that order so nothing is more looked for than loyalty to the tribe/clan/family in all their undertakings so the Sheiks will never buy a club with a lot of fairweather fans or a club without strong local community ties I´m sure.
Mr curbishley in the background..... that does make sense.....and with all the money behind him there would be no 'you need me more than I need you' b/s to get in his way with people who think they are top players...
Cheers MCFC, look forward to the membership card. I cant wait for our money troubles to be over, and to start enjoying transfer windows rather that dreading them!
MCFC - have you seen the investors flag?! Charlton colours - almost retro style !!! lol
I still can't get my head around the guy flying around the Middle East saying I want £400M for something he paid £200M for. Is he taking the almighty or what?
I think the big question for Charlton (assuming the deal goes through) is what the impact is on this season and the running of the club?

It´s the flag of Bani yas (the tribe) and is used by several of the Emirates, the Abu Dhabi one got a white rectangle against a red background for example..
As for Mike Ashley he´s an idiot..he came to Dubai and at the first meeting got a £200m offer that he declined, later that evening he was invited by the Dubai crowd for some more talks and coffee (Meaning that they where inviting him to talk seriously about a deal) but he was still so miffed by the first offer that he decided to get on a drinking spree in a Dubai bar with his company instead, that was a deadly insult and no one in Dubai will ever invest a penny in Newcastle..
As for the running of the club the Sheiks like to give the people in charge a lot of freedom, they just wanna see progress according to their instructions, besides they will not try to run the club by remote control..lol
This season..Well, it depends on what manager they have in mind and what he would like to be done in regards to the squad I guess.
I've found some of your comments very interesting but I'm noticing a constant stream of information about "the Sheiks like to this" or "their record is this".
It is another set of owners at MCFC and they have been there a matter of weeks. I have no reason to doubt their commitment but unless I'm missing the point you seem to be projecting quite a lot on your, and our, new owners based on not very much.
Perhaps you have other knowledge of Middle Eastern culture or their running of other football clubs that I'm not aware of.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Sorry MCFC is this sounds harsh.

Hope you keep on posting.
Well, basically it´s the same UAE Sheiks we are talking about, they are all relatives and tend to marry within their own group..like how Citys owner is married to Sheik Maktoums daughter.
But yes, I do know people in the area and hear a lot about what people are talking about in regards to the ruling families.
But in regards for how they like to run football clubs it´s rather informative to watch them manage the local clubs in the Gulf area and then compare it to how they manage their investments in general..It´s the same model they use.
That said It´s not that I am ITK or anything..If I was I wouldn´t spend time on here LOL
I personally am very interested in what happens with our manager,
I mean realistically if you was investing in CAFC would you keep our current manager? or would you bring a top name in? could we also trust Pardew with an injection of cash to make the right signings?
I personally dont think hes the man for the job, i like him but we have had some crazy team selections.
Thanks for posting here MCFC, I am enjoying reading your posts and its all giving us food for thought. The Ashley story is a blinder - I can just imagine him downing pints in front of extremely unimpressed arabs! The man must be a bit of a tool.

Jiminez that some people claim had organised the meeting must have been furious...I doubt that there´s a coincident that he left Newcastle just days before Dubai made a bid for Charlton. I wonder where his loyalties are really..
Q: who said this about Man City on 2nd Sept? Sure I could dig more of you out who have similar stuff. Jealousy.
Congratulate? Congratulate what exactly? Rich people bought their football club, yeah, well done, great achievement.
Screw City, screw Man U, screw Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham.
I don't care. All I care about is Charlton. These so called "top" 4 do more to undermine and devalue the game I love with every pound they spend. Just look at Berbatov, so he might well have achieved something and may well be the toast of the bars of Bulgeria but is he not the epitome of the dis-loyal cash seeking so called star that the modern game is all about. What exactly will Manchester City bring to the game of football with their multi-millions?
Ultimately we'll end up with a situation where we have four or five people sitting in the same jacuzzi owning everything.
[cite]Posted By: Weegie Addick[/cite]As long as they don't think Keegan would be a good manager for CAFC - even I would rather keep Pardew ;-)
There was an article on him in one of the papers yesterday asking exactly why the Newcastle fans are so obsessed with him. He walked out on them when the going got tough the first time round, he walked out on Man City, he walked out on England with the worst record of any England manager, when he came back to Newcastle he didn't win for 8 games and they only finished 12th last season. So why the fuss?
It's going to be interesting to say the least. We all know that we wouldn't be able to challenge for major honours without major investment, the likes of which the current board wouldn't be able to provide. But at the same time we don't want the work that the board did to be undermined. I remember Curbs telling reporters that he didn't want to leave Charlton, as the thought of someone else taking over all the hard work that he had done would get to him. I imagine he was upset with the way Dowie splashed his money. The same must be true with the board, I don't think Murray would sell if it wasn't in the club's best interest.
The impression I get of middle east investors is that they aren't there for a quick fix, it was encouraging to hear them mention the community work and how they want to keep that going. No doubt some people will point out the investment opportunities in the Thames Gateway but I personally think it shows an attention for detail, likewise looking at a club in the championship.
They are obviously here to make money, lets hope that doesn't entail much change to the way the club is run at present, partially the affordable ticket prices! And that the current board has a presence in new regime.
Definitely going to have some exciting times ahead!
Don't know how you quote across a page but I think that Valley Floyd Red is spot on.
Everyone keeps going on about Chelsea but what about Portsmouth and Villa? I think that the Villa example is the way to go. Maybe I'm wrong but they seem to have splashed the cash but not for the sake of doing so and have kept the core of their players.

That's how I'm hoping it'll work out for them. American owners certainly haven't been a bad thing for Villa. They're also buying a lot of young English players, as well as bringing players through the academy when they can.
Villa is a good model, IMHO. Chairman not in the news every five minutes, lets the manager get on with it, provided funds which have been spent on building a squad rather then just bringing in "names"
And they moved the away fans from behind the goal ; - )

Stone, you better tell us who said it - not many people on here seem to care anyway, but I think it's interesting to know
That's how I found it Lookout mbut not to out any individual. I remember seeing comments about some posters hating the whole way Chelsea came about their success and searched 'Chelsea' and found it by chance.
