[cite]Posted By: Nug[/cite]Did he let us down? I thought he was told he had to go along with the management structure they had put in place, very successful it was too!
I heard it was about the management structure too. I think Davies would do a marvellous job in getting the best out of what we have at the club. I honestly believe that technically, the squad is way too good to go anywhere near down, but Pardew clearly isn't the man to get the best out of them.
If Pardew does depart, whatever the route, sadly, I don't think the board would approach Davies again.
One thing that bothers me about Big Sam is that, in retrospect, it's starting to look like Phil Brown was the real power behind the throne & Allardyce is more of a Clive Woodward-type over-manager. We probably can't afford that kind of setup? Right, I'm off to Wiki 'Tank'...
I think Jorge Costa is a good shout but does he still manage Braga if so then i doubt he would come to us i would like to see maybe Darren Ferguson. he would get loan players from Man Utd and advice from his old man.
[cite]Posted By: MCS[/cite]Its not going to be billy davis, he wont come, so no point keep mooting him.
he'd come, he's been out of work a while and needs to get back in. Offered the job before Dowie so was the Board's first choice before. As for Kinsella, Costa, DiCanio in one respect we are letting our hearts rule our heads but on the other hand I can't see anyone doing worse that Pardew at the moment and at least they'd install some pride and passsion in the performances.
If we are going to change direction then Billy Davies seems a sound suggestion but I am shocked no one has mentioned Steve Gritt - Charlton man, shared the chair with AC, did a sound job with both Millwall (where he was stabbed in the back) and Brighton (who were on the verge of bankruptcy every week) and is doing a very good job with the academy.
Now I know everyone is going to quote Uncle Les at me but Gritt "earned his medals on the pitch" including the old first division.
I would be happy with Gritty, at least for the time being. Our defence needs sorting out and he was noted for that during his work with Curbs, I recall.

I suggested Gritty on the "I don't want Kinsella" thread yesterday.
He took over at Brighton when they were marooned at the bottom of the 4th tier by 10 points or more and saved them from relegation to the Conference.
Gritty as number 1 with Kins as number 2, always assuming firstly we can realistically afford to oust Pardew and secondly that Steve is willing to take the job of course.
We need someone from outside the club, someone with fresh eyes and thinking, who can clearly see what's wrong - and have the nous and leadership to put it right.
Promoting within wouldn't have the new broom effect to sweep away the current malaise.

Is that the same Bily davies who let us down at the time we eventually appointed Dowie?
Once bitten and all that...

Love to see him do that at Selhurst but in a red and white flag. Love to see Jordan and his bouncers faces.
Would certainly wake up our crowd for starters.

Steve Tilson
Darren Ferguson
Someone like that and Tilson would me my preference.
