West Ham players under the hammer

edited October 2008 in General Charlton
According to today's Telegraph West Ham are looking to off load players in a "fire sale".

Assuming we had some cash who should Charlton buy?

Luis Boa Morte - £3M
Lee Bowyer £1.5M
James Collins £1M
Jonathan Spector £1M
Nigel Quashie £1M
Callum Davenport £1M
Hayden Mullins £0.5M
Danny Gabbidon £0.5M

Be careful what you wish for, Derek Chappell told me he reads the site!

the last three in that list
  • Parker a million I would expect someone like Stoke, Wigan etc to offer about three for him
  • I'd laugh if Parker ended up at Stoke. I still can't forgive him for the way he acted when he left us.
  • Sunderland will snap a few up

Only if they are Irish ........
  • Bowyer not worth a Mill. Send him to millwall.

  • The one player I would like to see us get from them would be Matty Etherington.

    From that list, Gabbidon.
  • Collins but I don't think the players or their agents are including the players wages in the fire sale.

Parker's said to be on 60k a week and Bowyer 40k.
  • Gabbidon at this level and at 1/2 mill sounds like sense
  • Gabbidon would be the only one for me. The rest would either be overpayed or under talented.

Well the man has a price on his head that's for sure.

Gabbidon is a good shout - though there is no way we can afford to pay Premiership wages.
  • Hayden Mullins - Was rumoured to be coming to us last summer wasn't he?
  • ha ha anyone willing to part with cash for Spector would need their head examined

I would take davenport and gabbidon!
  • With Wet Spam i think the only thing we should take is the piss.
  • We've always been a selling club, so nothing much has changed.
Plus I can see us under new ownership by the time the window opens.
Anyway, many of those values are vastly under value, and £1m for Quashie and only £0.5m for Mullins!!! Definitely got that the wrong way round at the very least.

You should try a little harder than "wet spam" then fella!!
What else you got to take the piss about?

He's about the only one on that list that we'd realistically get

Ark at her!! Take the piss all you like mate, "What else you got to take the piss about?" was actually an invite for you to do just that. After all, there's nothing like a bit of banter is there (sadly your retort was nothing like a bit of banter).
  • where would u play him? weak...
  • Collins for me. Very underrated and always plays well against us.
  • Its hardly a firesale anyway, I'd say more like deadwood..
  • Are West Ham now a frozen asset of the Icelandic Govt. or should that be frozen liability?
  • Despite the problems of the owner, somebody will buy West Ham because whether we like it or not they have a value being in the FAPL etc. Remember just because the shareholder is in the fertiliser, the club is a valuable asset in it's own right (give or take £30M). These sell off's are primarily Zola's not wanteds. Personally, I'd go for Bowyer and Mullins, the rest are a bag of bones. I'd have thought the first throw out would be Scott Duxbury and his selective memory.
  • Now we may well have some cash perhaps we should set our sights higher than West Ham's cast offs!
  • buy chelsea
