[quote][cite]Posted By: Ketman[/cite]Must admit I was in North & loads were streaming out before the end, probably the same clowns that Booed at Half Time ![/quote]
Probs were the samedid not notice myself watching the game as they should off been
It's definitely football all over the country, not just us, impatience is increasing like the players wages. People want to see players earn this ridiculous money, and if they think they're being lazy, not giving 100% then ppl will get on their backs. Mind you our support is hideously impatient.
Interesting what Len and Valley says, would be interesting to know if the majority of people are 'plastics'... at the end of the day plenty of these people have bought ST's, it's weird.
However, I do think due to various reasons (and I still say the away fans getting the better acoustics in the Jimmy seed, North Upper not carrying is a BIG factor), we are worst than a lot. A shame when you think it was our passion that got us back to the Valley in the first place..
"I live in Bristol now so don't get to as many games as I used to but I went to Wolves a couple of weeks ago with a Spurs season ticket holder friend of mine - and to be honest, I was embarrassed of our supporters.
It wasn't only the boo's and rants, it was the total lack of passion."
[cite]Posted By: Salad[/cite]booing and leaving early - not only pathetic but dumb since it was a really good game
Never been a "booer", but leave early 95% of the time. Usually just go downstairs & finish watching on the tv for a quick getaway at the final whistle. Whats pathetic & dumb about that?

"I tried to be calm at half-time which was difficult because it was frustrating. The crowd had started to affect us and you felt it might be one of those days again. But we managed to eradicate that fear.

Do you leave the cinema or the theater early?[/quote]
Of course not
the pathetic thing is its makes the lot of us look pathetic so many people rushing out the door whle you are ahead
who cares. those that are there till the end should sing till the end instead of worrying about who is going at what time and why. people have their reasons, trains, distance whatever, its up to them, they can do what they like, worry about yourself and your way of supporting the team and stop whingeing about everyone else.
Charlton on the other hand is just over 2hrs away & getting away on time means we get home at a reasonable time instead of being stuck in traffic for 30mins - 1hr.

Understand on a week night not a saturday and the fact its bloody hundreds of them not a few, no need to worry about the way i and other around me support the club just wish a few more would show the same commitment
you can, as can everyone else, do as you wish - but it is lamentable that so many "fans" like to boo all the time now and that so many fans tend to give up on what is often the most exciting part of a game. Would you would leave an Oasis gig before they played Wonderwall?
Beyond my really cheap jibe - but it's how I feel - there probably is an issue with people not feeling *part* of the club. Youngsters brought up watching Tim f**king Lovejoy who can't even imagine the dodgy days of the 70s and 80s, older type who feel priced out or generally hacked off because life isn't like it was in the 70s/80s, to people in general alienated by some of the greedier aspects of the game. Not exclusively a Charlton phenomenon, but one which seems to have hit us a little more than most.
Firstly it isn't just football. Any venue with over 10,000 capacity is going to get early leavers nowadays, because of peoples general impatience and of course a willingness to avoid the rush. I have been to the O2 for example on many occasions now and every time droves of people leave early. I would say that It isn't the same with cinemas or theatres because generally the numbers are smaller and exiting is therefore easier, although I have seen it happen.
Secondly, Booing may be a new phenomenon of showing displeasure, but complaining at the Valley certainly isn't a new one, I vividly remember sections of crowd giving the team and club a hard time, especially during the latter stages of the Glikstein era, but then they had genuine reason to do so.
I leave my seat with about one or two minutes to go and then sit near the exit(there's always one to be found), to get a quick getaway....always feel a bit uncomfortable about that because I don't want to give the impression to those around me that I leave before the final whistle....but I never do.
You get some odd folk at Football we always have and always will. I remember once being told to keep the noise down by some miserable old cogger! Couldn't believe it. My old man told him it was cos I'd got passion and to shut his mouth - good on yer Dad!
It's up to the rest of us to drown em out, I do my best from the West Upper but I don't get much help other than my Dad and even he's slowly turning into a moany old fart!!!!
I keep saying this but we could really do with some decent new songs, a few about the players would be nice and maybe a bit more exciting than 'there's only on XXX' etc. Give Spurs fans their credit, that was a disgusting somg but it was pretty creative lyrically speaking!
I left on 86 Saturday because I had to work that night and I would be buggered if I was going to miss out on a nights work in favour of sitting in traffic.
I can tell you though I am not an early leaver, at Palace I made a twat out of myself by stomping out before the final whistle and turning into a crowd of Palace fans (now that is strange leaving early when you're just about to beat a rival) and having to loop back on myself to get to the station!
I can see why people do it when were playing shite and getting beat but during a win??? Do they do the same thing with sex????
I will just say it pisses me off no end to have to leave early to go and work but thats life eh? At least I get to see it unlike poor old Carlsberg

Sad, but very true.

If you're a supporter, you're *part* of something. You're a part of the club. So, you stay to the end.
