Seriously, I shudder to think of the consequences if they had voted no. I think we could have had a 10 year recession, instead of a 1or 2 year recession.
Eventually there will be a socialist revolution. I was banking on it happening in around 2070 but recent events are making me wonder if it will come in my lifetime.
UK today +on CCTV 300 times a day +biggest DNA data base in the world +phones scanned +can hold people 42 days without trial +have to wear seat belts +cars must be MOTd +cant smoke in public places +cant drink and drive +cant insult people by race religion or sex +taxed on just about every thing you buy and earn
95% of people would say the above make our society a safer and better place. All the above could be argued are restictions of freedom in some way.
Freedom to me means:
opertunity to achieve expression no matter how painfull voting movement to go where and when i want to read anything i wish, and the press to have the freedom to print what they like. to have a religion or not to marry who i choose if i choose when i choose to have children when i want and as many as i want
others will have vastly differing ideas on freedom.
Socialism ?
huge veriations--- if you mean the model that murdered millions and millions of people in USSR / China / Cambodia etc ------------- no thanks if you mean state control of everything -----------no thanks if you mean the 1970z Labour Party -----------no thanks if you mean a better way for more people to gain wealth via better opertunities and distribution of wealth ok ------ not sure thats socialism tho.
Gold prices are up 15% this year.In fact two weeks ago against sterling Gold was at an all time high.Tell me where you can get that return. The pound on the other hand is12% down. Not so sound the pound. And on the subject of banking colllapse read your history. The Lombardy collapse and the Venetian collapse. This is the biggest crisis for 500 years.
banks illiquid? the strongest will survive and governments will intervene...equity in weak banks will be burnt - so what?!!!
this is not 1930 nor 400 years ago ... there is a possibility of a shft in global capitalist power but just align your skills and interests to the future, not the past...
everyone is aware of Japan recently so watch out for major drops in interest rates - and oil is down so my credit card is looking ok again!
As the Chinese say we are living through interesting times - lets hope for some dosh coming into SE7 !!!

Lol
I hope that will never happen as I want to live as a free man.
Depends how you define 'free'
It is impossible for the banking system to be insolvent.
Why?
