It's good news indeed for those who can't access the match commentaries at the moment.
Now all we have to do is try to get someone who is actually a Charlton fan to do them, because although Browny is one of ours the main guys aren't and it shows.

I'd guess though that if it's Barnsley away it'll be the feed from their site as this is via the tie-up from the Football League where everyone has the same website although we are keeping our website but linking to the FL system. At least that is how I read it.
There seems to be an endless line of former Charlton Players plying their trade as commentators these days. I also seem to remember Gary Nelson co-commentating as have John Salako, Scott Minto and I've even seen Chrissy Powell on sky a few times.
I like Browny though, he gets really pissed off when we play badly. That's what we need in a commentator.. partisanship!
[cite]Posted By: Solaraddick[/cite]i would have thought that the need is for 'quality' of commentary rather than bias, per se, though hopefully with a background of Addicks knowledge.
In the 'old days', while Mark Mansfield was a fan, he did provide a balanced commentary, even if his true colours did show at key moments.
Agreed, having listened to the Palace version on Tuesday whenever we had the ball they just chatted amoungst themselves about Palace. It'd be great if Charlton Live or something could be put out through it for some 100% Charlton chat but during the game I'd rather get an accurate refelction of whats going on with someone like Brownie around to give a knowlegable reflection of how things are looking from a CAFC perspective.
That's a good point, even the existing commentary drifts into unrelated chit chat. I remember the Doncaster commentator going on about hamburgers and press seat accessibility for five minutes.

I was on here that night and had a great night with your boys. These PTV commentators do tend to be biassed and ramble on about anything but the game for long periods, but I guess its better than nothing. Our best commentaries are when we get the radio Sheffield team via PTV, much more professional. Good luck for today lads, might pop by later as a mate of mine (Charlton fan) should be on here for the match
Hadn't seen it Henry but I knew about it already as I subscribed about 3 weeks ago. When I found that the commentary wasn't working I wrote to them and got a reply telling me that the site hadn't even been lauched yet. They were quite surprised that it had leaked into public (Charlton fans') knowledge.

It was a test page. The club were aware of the leak (it was on here and elsewhere) but were slightly surprised that people were signing up for it already when it hadn't even been launched.

But how would we know if it's been launched? If it's online it looks like it's launched just as when I see a product in the shop I assume it's for sale.

Its BBC Radio London, so hopefully they will pull the likes of Browny and Minto in for commentary...Didnt Gary Nelson do some a few years back?
