Losing to poor opposition!

edited October 2008 in General Charlton
Losing is never a pleasant experience of course, but it must be said that our last two defeats were to relatively poor teams that the average Addicks side would have overcome quite comfortably up to very recently....now that's a 'very' worrying situation/trend that simply can't be ignored.

  • we lost to poor opposition last season - Scunthorpe and Crewe (both relegated to name but two) but beat some of the better teams. We've done so this season against Reading but the fear is that may have been a blip!

AA.....I think I should have stressed that it was two in a row to poor opposition!
  • Scuthorpe and Blackpool last season? I do agree with the sentiment but all the time we're not scoring goals and trying to nick 1-0's that is going to be the case simply because our defence isn't good enough. So time to go on all out attack.
  • F' me, I can't get it right can I ?????
  • And we only took 1 point off Colchester too. In the 6 games against the 3 relegated sides we got 5 points.
  • to be fair we have always had a habit of losing to crap teams/ Look a tthe champ winning season - we were smashing everyone out of site and lost at home to Swindon.

Lost count the amount of times over the years we have done it.
  • Interesting how 'poor team' is defined.

From what I heard (from both CAFC and Palace fans) we were by far the poorest team on Tuesday night. Therefore the best team won.

That's not my point...my point is that they were poor too.... I'm not saying we weren't even poorer, because we clearly were.

I agree with what youre saying.

Palace were shite. We we're more shite.

If you go onto BBS some Nigels think they played well........I pity them
  • It must be great to be a Charlton fan, even when you lose, the other team are poor.

On Tuesday night there were no great single performances by Palace players, but as a unit they were very good. As I have read many posters on here write, you got off very lightly with a 1-0, and you could not complain if it had been many more.

Palace will hopefully continue there recent upturn in performances, and start to rise in the league, and threaten to get in the play off places again. Charlton however will have to be careful, because if they show the arrogance of some of there supporters, they may well find themselves in trouble, if they don't admit they have problems and try to resolve them.

Bigger clubs than Charlton have found themselves in Division One.

Jezuz H Christ, are you calling that performance by Palace a good one????....If that's what you're used to mate then I feel sorry for you....you didn't play well but we WERE even worse. I and just about everyone admit that, however, any half decent Charlton side over the last decade would have given you a hell of at tonking on Tuesday so don't get carried away pal, if that's the best you can come up with then you're going nowhere!
That was the worst performance from us I've seen in quite a while, it was truly horrendous by our standards.....which may well be different from yours....don't forget we've been in The Prem for quite a few years and naturally 'expect' a great deal better!
  • he has a point though, we never got credit for good wins in the PL, always the other team's worst performance of the season.
Mind you we never really rose in the legue either.
  • We've lost to poor opposition before this season too. Just look at the Yeovil game. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  • As Ledge said, for as long as i can remember ,we've always lost to teams near the bottom of the league. Fortunately we usually do well against teams near the top. When we stop doing that, I really will start to worry.
  • NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO MILLWALL BEATING US AGAIN.

Fair play to Palace, they done a job on us and we couldn't handle it. I wouldn't be too complacent though, neither team looked like play off material. We can play a lot better than that. Can Palace though?
  • Watson will be gone soon as well, they are not that good a team, we were just awful. We will improve, I think they were at their best.
  • Losing to poor opposition?

It's one of the few things we are consistantly good at........
