NOTTINGHAM Forest manager Colin Calderwood today insisted his team have not yet been sucked into a relegation battle – but warned nothing less than a win will do when Charlton visit the City Ground on Saturday.

"We expect a battle but we have to collect points in the next four games," said the Reds boss.

"I said we would have a rough idea of where we are going to be after the first ten games.

"If we had won at Preston we would have been in mid-table. There are a lot of question marks over us after that. We knew we would have to be almost perfect to get anything but it was an alarming first goal to concede.

"We have to have a home win on Saturday. We know that – we have to beat Charlton."

After changing his personnel and formation at Deepdale, reverting to a traditional 4-4-2, Calderwood said there may be further alterations to the side at the weekend.

"The changes gave us a different edge, they made us better," he said. "That gives us the consolation that we have 16 or 17 players competing for a place.

"We will make changes again. We have to find a way to get the result we need."

Calderwood warned Forest must quickly learn that even the slightest mistakes are pounced upon at this level of the game.

"We are really being punished for the small mistakes, which shows how much better the level of competition is in the Championship," he said.
