What a beautiful stadium that could be!

The possible Valley...

  • Dream on, I'm afraid, Dazzler!
  • That went up in smoke when CAFC appointed Dowie Im afraid :-(
  • Do you really think that's beautiful? It's another paint-by-numbers souless bowl imo, only distinguishable from svereral other stadiums by the colour of the seats. It does cheer me though to think we could sustain a stadium like that given the ground we were playing in when I first started attending games (i.e. not even our own stadium) but it's surely a looooong way off right now.

Weegie...we've had dreams before and they've come true...it's what being a fan(and none more so than an Addick) is all about....you never know what's around the corner mate...keep the faith my friend...keep the faith.
  • What do you know SoundAsa£ ;-)
  • quite that's why it says "possible"

I like it as it almost looks like you could turn it up on the away end and stand it upright which is a random thought!

    It did look like this!

We wouldn't have 31,000 to fill it!
  • The new one that is!

And it's not far off, just give it 10 years from now - I will be 30 and we will be back in the prem with our beautiful mid table play!

I like this rollercoaster that is Charlton!

No it's not...all four sides of the ground will be different....so it's 'nothing' like the souless new stadia such as Sarfampton and Reading....now those and quite a number of similar new builds are depressing....how can you say that the completed Valley would be like that...I grant you it looks fairly uniform from an aerial view (which we can see in this instance) but it will be very different feel once inside.
I can't wait to see it someday....I keep the faith my friend as indeed we all should.
  • its built into the side of a hill for a start too..

  • Looks like a mini Old Trafford
  • wont be like that until we become an established prem team once again, if were destined for another 10 years or so in the lower leagues then i imagine some small work could be done on the south stand but nowhere near the picture at the top of the page. living right next to the valley during the exile years and return, there were at least 4 staduim plans before they settled on the original, i remeber them saying they were gona build a bowling alley under neath the pitch which made my sisters happy. In art class at school i used to draw my dream valley with all four corners joint and 2 tiers when we didnt even have a 4 sided ground!! to see the progress of the ground now makes me feel proud just a shame the jimmy seed is so shite.

Redeemed yourself right at the end there Adam.

Most likely we won't be able to build again until we are promoted and until then it is unlikely we'll need that much extra capacity but you have to plan ahead and look for what is out there.

Those who buy a programme should read the first para of Steve Waggotts's page in the Wolves prog. All ifs and maybe's but why be surprised by what happens to Charlton. As Soundasa£ - who's old enough to remember when we first moved to the Valley ; - ) - says we've had other dreams come true.

Can't agree that is is "just another bowl". Nothing of the sort although in practical terms one of them would be better eg more boxes, better catering outlets etc, etc
  • Better beer?

    ;o)
  • [cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Better beer?

    ;o)

No one would be silly enough to promise better beer : - )

Bottled beer on the other hand is now available thanks to the hard work of Ben Hayes Paul Ellison
