The Washington Post's Steven Goff has reported that Cory Gibbs was interested in returning to the MLS. The Los Angeles Galaxy are reportedly interested in Gibbs and Ruud Gullit commented that Gibbs was a "good option." [2]

MLS commisioner Don Garber stated on his blog on August 8, 2008 that Gibbs signed with the league.[3] It was expected that he'd be selected by Los Angeles Galaxy, who had first option to pick up his contract in the allocation listings, but was eventually selected by Colorado Rapids, after the Galaxy passed to be able to pick Eddie Lewis.

Gibbs has been a great addition for the Colorado Rapids, who are playing well after Cory took over the center of their defense. Colorado's gaffer has been highly complimentary of Gibbs' addition.

Although Gibbs' lack of fitness at Charlton appropriately make him the butt of jokes, yank futbol fans are fairly enthusiastic about his good run since returning stateside as he provides a quality option at center half behind Onyewu and Bocanegra for the national team.

I tuned in to a live game to watch Gibbs play, (for my first time), in the MLS the other day - unfortunately he got injured in the warm-up & missed the match - i do *think* I saw a shot of him sitting on the bench during the match.

saw cory gibbs play the entire 90 min in the MLS opener for his new club New England Revolution last night. He had a good game at CB. They lost the match to LA Galazy, but Gibbs is definitely their best defender. He didnt get skinned once but his distribution out of the back was terrible.
