  • Its a long season and its not a sprint
  • Was at the game today. Sadly predictable defeat as wolves turned the screw second half. Don't agree with all the sack pardew rubbish but people need to realise we are miles away from the play offs and lower bottom half is much more likely.

Players didnt look like they had a clue when wolves equalised. Worrying.
  • they were the better side and deserved to win. We need to defend better against these sides, Youga was very poor. Bailey was a positive.
  • How can you accept bottom half of league with parachute payment still and not want Pards out...we have more money that most clubs in this league and should be up there challenging. The players he has brought in are not good enough and the kids can't help us yet
  • he tried but I just dont think he is good enough. Hudson was very strong again, Fortune was poor and I need to have another look at Crainie.

But at least youga tried which is more than I can say the other muppets in defence.

Why don't you just fuck off you twat. Every time we lose it's the same old shit from you "Pardew must go, everyone is a "muppet", etc, etc , etc.

You are a tiresome, boring little man.
  • talk of about Pards leaving is crazy. We lost to a better team today, on with the next fixture.

    Agree 100% mate.

Never a truer word spoken. This board is going to end up like NetSaddicks soon - four or five pillocks posting the same bollocks week in week out. Honestly, I wish they'd ALL fuck off - and that goes for the prick sat behind me today who did nothing but moan - I swear by almighty God I glanced over at him five minutes after they got their third and he was smiling. Cnut.
  • Thought Wolves were the better team and deserved the win.

Could have been different. Varney SHOULD have scored, but yet again he's missing vital chances. Think he could be in double figures this season already if he could finish.

  • Wolves the better team for 80 mins of the game. I think they will romp this league if they keep up that level of performance. Not many teams will live with them. Our season will not be decided based on a game against them.

I am however worried about Varney, i thought he had 3 excellent chances today and did not even hit the target - despite my feeling that he is not ready, maybe it is time to start Dickson after all.

However the main problem was the players response times. Wolves looked like they wanted it more, generally being first to any loose ball, but actually i think it was just that their speed of response was quicker rather than a lack of effort Charlton wise.

Cranie was solid but uninspiring, but with him able to play across the back 4 then maybe we should play him LB and drop Youga who was clueless, could then bring Mootoo back at RB.

but what if the next fixture is yet another defeat. And the one after that. If we play like we played after they scored I can see donny forest wednesday and palarse all turning us over.
You're so right. Because Doncaster, Forest, Wednesday and Palace are all just as good as Wolves. Get a fcuking grip - that was the best side you'll see at the Valley all season - yet you make it sound as if we were pants against bloody Barnet or Macclesfield. Stay in Sheffield and watch United or Wednesday FFS. Then at least when they lose you won't have to moan about your 400 mile round trip.
  • Its all well and good saying wolves are the best side blah blah blah, but we have lost another 2 games so far this season and the other 2 are not wolves
  • Wolves aren't as good as some people on this board are suggesting. They haven't got a hope of going up automatically because they can't defend. We had 5 clear chances which we fluffed. Better sides will out-score Wolves this season, even if they do play some nice football in midfield.

That isn't borne out by the league table. They already have a goal difference of +11; the next best team (Brum) have +5. Perhaps they are better than you are giving credit for, and therefore perhaps yesterday's result isn't quite the disaster that some on here are suggesting.
  • I understand your point but we've all seen Wolves have prolific spells before, and then flatter to deceive for other parts of the season. I'm convinced they won't go up but we will see at the end of the season.
  • Trying to be objective a day later I'd say Wolves were the better side, particularly second half of the second half.

We need more resilience (we folded after the penalty) and more consistency of performance if we are to be any better than midtable.

It's a good point. After all, last year everyone was saying that Watford would stroll the league after their start. There's a hell of a long way to go yet.

Spot on Len. Wolves defending was a bit flaky but I think that showed our attacking potential. What they had was confidence, understanding, and belief. With that we could be up their challenging. That, for me, is the managers job.

My two penneth (can't find the post match thread)

Wolves 1 maybe 2 years ahead of us, and are looking good for automatic promotion, well organised, and try every possible niggle to gain an advantage = winners I'm afraid. Having said that it was a good opportunity for us to test our metal, and despite the loss losing one game against a top team isn't the death nell for our season.

Ref was odd and decisions went against us, that offside decision drove me mental later on, I completely lost it which is rare. lol.

I do have my concerns about Pards, simply I don't rate him and don't believe he will change, does that mean I won't criticise him, erm, nope.. he is making most of the mistakes he made last year as someone said elsewhere - I just hope he can manage to continue to pick a consistent lineup. His subsitutions do baffle me sometimes among other things.

Our squad is lacking confidence I think, Youga seems very shakey, we too often bypassed our own midfield on Sat. We also don't always seem to play gel well as a team, hopefully this is just a time thing.

The squad will will be severly tested after moving a lot of players on, but I have to admit I don't think we really have any decent defenders other than Hudson, nor enough providers. Its too early to say with Cranie although I don't think he brings anything at right back that semedo can't do. Primus, to replace Fortune, well pace may be an issue but who knows.

On the bright side, ZZ to come in might freshen it up a bit as may Ambrose. Interesting Motoo was singled out by the commentators in the Reading game, perhaps he should be allowed a run in the side.

That off-side late on that went against us was off-side. I was right in line and when the ball was played he was well offside even though he wasn't when he recieved the ball.
  • Was that the one where the lino really got it from us East standers, we were fairly level too and he I forget who, looked well onside when ball was played.
  • Yeah everyone went mad but honestly he was off side. I always give the lino large when he gets it wrong but he was right in this case.
