Ticket pricing in general for the beautiful game.

edited September 2008 in General Charlton
so £30.00 to watch Crystal palace vs Charlton is in my opion not on and much to expensive, i won't be going.

Why are clubs allowed to GET AWAY with charging such a high price and why aren't the F.A. looking into this and taking it up as an issue ,OR IT's an excuse to charge what we(THE CLUB) like as it's a local derby against our nearest rivals and we can get away with it.

Just as an example how many of our supporters would pay this for all OUR remaining away games?

  • If you are going to charge £30 for any game this season, then justify it in a local derby. Personally, seeing us beat them is cheap at £30.
  • I agree it is a scandalous price to pay in this league but it's Palace and I am paying it cos I HAVE to be there.. I personally think ticket prices should be capped to a score for all clubs.
  • Point taken Ledge but it's like a tit for tat and i can't afford to pay £30.00 just to be there, i'm sure someone will remind me of the police costs and other outgoing expenditure but i'm making a point about the general increase in pricing and how prices are set.
  • Just looking on the Charlton website and noticed that our ticket prices for the Bristol City game are £10 for adults. Now i'm all for cheaper ticket prices and all that but how is this game labelled category C? I know its midweek but it was midweek last year and they more or less sold out the away end. They always have good away support and such cheap prices are surely only going to encourage them to have a completely packed out away end again. I reckon they'd shift 2000 easily regardless of price, so surely make the prices £15 or £20 at least.
  • Club would rather have 20,000 in than 15,000 - It'll be interesting to see what the policy for the Derby game in December will be - 8pm KO on a Monday night

Derby on sky on a monday i could understand it being £10, but Bristol City have a good following and would bring 2000+ even if it was £20. For them at home i think we'd easily get 20000 in, so can't see why thats a category C game.
  • Did QPR eventually reduce their prices against Derby and/or did any of the Derby fans boycott the match (if the prices were not reduced)?
  • they had to solid - what they did was agaisnt FA rules and they were told to reduce them - If i read it right

    20 notes for Bristol adults.
  • As a matter of interest, Bristol City are saying they will bring 1,200. Mind you, I do remember they seriously underestimated their own support last year.
