swansea songs

edited August 2008 in General Charlton
mainly anti English 'racism' with very little imagination, sorry to all the Jacks who were/are on here in anticipation of the match, but they came across as something out of the 1970s.

  • you should have seen them on the train. wierd looking bunch to say the least,

    very vocal though.
  • fair play to them they aint english so they gave it loads the singing of engrrrland when we scored the 2nd was well worth it

You would look wierd if you'd spent most of your life balls deep in sheep

lol - if you'd have seen the women with them, you might start to understand the attraction they have for sheep.

by the way - Jonjo looked ok today - needs to keep his confidence up
  • To be fair to them, they were the loudest away support we've had down there this season - so hats off.
  • He's ok now had some text from him and he's alright. thanks for all the kind words though. I did actually see some of the women and i'm not sure they aint been balls deep in the sheep too lol. In all seriousness though we really do need to up the volume a bit we shouldn't be getting out sung at home. Good day though proper enjoyed it
  • Not often i agree with Off_it but i do this time- I spoke with a group of them on the way there and they were actually just hoping they didn't get stuffed.

Oh and have any of you seen Catherine Jenkins?

    :-))
  • uncle do u sit in j block near the front?

  • yeah thought so but didnt wanna say anything and look like a tit
  • What 70's chants offended you? Personally I thaught we got behind our team for the most part and can't think of any racist chants that were sung. Maybe it's something that was lost in the regional dialect but surely you would have expected a little bit of anti english sing songs? As for the look of us, well what can I say beauty iss in the eye of the beholder, so i'm told anyway and I guess we should take it as a back handed compliment because there could be no songs of support heard from the home ends today and that was dissapointing. Maybe our women aren't as fanciable as those we passed in sarf londinium wearing red football tops but hey you can't have everything.

thaught we were good for a point today but it wasn't to be, two good deliveries for the goals and no complaints there. I'm sure we'll play a lot worse than today and win (as long as we can have that ref for our home games). Good luck for the rest of the season and get it together and sing some songs for your team it's what they deserve isn't it. As for the engulund chant I'm sorry we couldn't hear the dozen or so who sang it but then again England wern't playing were they?

Yawn. Hope you enjoyed your Cup Final. No (serious) offence intended, but I'm sure you can understand the general apathy that surrounds our club at the moment - Swansea at home is hardly a game to set the pulses racing.

Your lot played some good stuff but never really hurt us and were limited in the main to long range efforts. Unfortunately playing good football alone doesn't always do you many favours in this league and I can see your lot getting roughed up by a few of the more physical teams who wont let you play your natural game like we did today.

As for the ref, he wasn't the greatest but he seemed equally as good/bad for both teams from where I was sitting. Your fella was plain stoopid going in for that challenge straight after getting a (fairly soft) booking. It seemed to me that the red mist had descended as he dived in - dunno if he has form for that sort of thing or not.
  • When we still churn out the tired old inbred song to the tune of The Adams Family we have no room to criticise.
I made a point of looking round the ground when our second went in . Not many of them left, certainly no more than the Upper North! Very strange. All the early leavers in the East have not renewed by the looks of things. Hardly anyone left before FT.
  • Sorry off it but our cup final will be a far more heated encounter than todays visit to londinium and a lot closer to home. Please excuse our excitment today and our ugliness as it's been a long time since we were at this level and no matter where the FL had sent us today we'd have travelled in numbers. I never expected a visit of the Swans to set the pulses racing either but isn't the attraction the home team? reguardless of who is visiting? Good luck for the rest of the season and FFS get behind your team don't they deserve it? much more satisfying than waffling on about ugly away fans or loud singing of songs youd prefer not to have to hear at a home game.
    chow for now.
  • ugliness excused - not your fault nature dealt you all a cruel, cruel, blow on so many fronts.
    ;o)
  • The next time we take 3k 200+ miles we can comment.
  • England is full of shit - how imaginative, is that why Swans are in our league and not the Welsh one..
Barmy army - personal non favourite of mine
and your support if F... S...
    ..and that was about it.

Hear what you say about our fans - and Swansea were very vocal even for away fans - odd atmosphere, but then we are going through a funny patch, plus we ruined our home end when we constructed the acoustically poor new North Stand.

Good luck to the Swansea I think they deserved more from the game, and should stay up in my opinion.
  • Double D

i dont care what you lot sung well done for your football you played nice tidy footie, i quite enjoyed you slagging off the english we will slag off the taffs because thats what the majority of football fans do all in good humour i think

good luck for the rest of the season shame your keeper and centre halfs are cack or else you could be in for a good season.

we have always been shite at singing at home the roof on our stand doesnt help but the jimmy seed stand has better accoustics
  • Fair play to Swansea best away support who were vocal that i have seen in a long time

The same could be said about the English...

I sat in Block A of the East Stand yesterday and thought they were the best supporters we've had a The Valley for ages.

    90 minutes non stop support.

Better than the 6 'charlton' chavs who mugged emselves off before getting slung out at the end.

    Bloody shameful they were.
  • I thaught our centre halves did alright for the most part, they will settle down and no doubt improve under Martinez leadership. AFKA, the reason not many speak Welsh is a whole other debate but not for here and part of the reason why perhaps there are songs about England in our repertoire. We always do well vocally away from home and averaged well over a thousand last season. I must say though that the £30 price tag was rather cheeky on reflection as the refreshment kiosks were division 2 standard and the toilets were inadequate for over 3K and your roof in the jimmy seed leaked all game. Not the best at all. There were a lot of drunk fans yesterday partially due to the amount of time spent sitting in traffic near the ground a shocking length of time spent crawling about the last 3 miles.
  • DD

the defending from the corner was like what we watched last year and the distribution in the 2nd half was poor. Thought Gower looked dangerous in the first half but went missing in the 2nd half which is a shame as he is a mates brother who was in your end.

you need scotland because although the movement looked good there was no impact upfront.

    keeper looks well dodgy

30 pound for 2nd div footie is a liberty no one in this league should pay half that but thats footie now

Is drink driving not frowned upon in Welsh Wales then? Good job they had a few "emergency" tins in the old glove compartment!
  • I wa sitting in traffic yesterday after the game by the Swansea coaches. I have never seen so much booze being taken onto the coaches in all my life. I thought drinking wasn't allowed on coaches (perhaps that rule doesn't apply in Wales!). The police just watched them take it on by the case loads. There must have been some very happy corner shop owners Saturday night!
  • ooooooooooo BFR in anti english/british snip what a shock that isnt.

As I was saying...some English people have problems speaking their own language...
  • we do need 2 make more noise,we cant b getting out sung at home, theres alot of fans that just come 2 watch a game and moan the whole way though it.i had a guy sitting near me on sat just moaning all the game.get behind the team or listen on the radio or sumthing and moan 2 yourself that is what i say 2 all the moaners.and stand up when we sing stand up if u love charlton, ppl wont even do it when we r 2-0 up!cafc 4 life
