  • Sounds more like we've sold ZZ so he's now got a bit of cash to spend.

He just wants to be loved. I'll tell you what Alan - get us playing some mice attractive, attacking and WINNING football and you'll find people sing "Soooooper Alan Pardooo" again.

We need to be entertained and excited...
  • pards is gona pull though 4 us.and b better than curbs.
  • I dunno, think we are being a bit harsh here, I'm with WhenIWasALittleBoy on this one. He was obviously frustrated last week with what was going on but now looks to have persueded the Board to loosen the pursestrings a little, albeit maybe on the back of the sale of ZZ. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  • I don't always agree with what Pards says.

But let's give the guy a break. Whether some people like it or not, he's the manager at the moment - and he knows for sure that he's judged on results.

How's he going to get the best results? By putting together his best possible team.

He knows if he doesn't get promotion or at least a damned close run, he's a dead man - and the club, players & fans lose out too. So it's not just about himself.

He's sold a couple of players recently that given the choice, he would've kept. He knows the team is weakened as a result.

So at the Board meeting last Tuesday, he's spoken up and said his piece.

He's asked the Board to remember that it's not just a business they're running - but a football team too, and there's a ton of fans out there wanting Charlton to put out the strongest possible team.

    Why's that wrong?
  • i am with oggy here give the fella a break. lets see how this season pans out before we slate him, the time is upon us now to pull in the same direction, Fans, players, board

  • APRAWA.......

We are all in this together...
  • Yep I agree oggy, everyone moans no signings as soon as he says he asked the board for money for transfers to give the fans, team and him a lift (which i think we need) the guys king of spin again.

Maybe he shouldn't say anything or sign anyone then this board can carry on the moaning procession its turning into

If he'd got a knock back from the board, I doubt we'd have a manager for tomorrow think about that when you give the guy a break. It's not like he's doing his job for free is it!

I can't believe he failed to understand the consequences of not even getting into the play offs last season.

It's something when your supposed to be delighted of we sign Sam Sodje!.

Anyway I'm taking the 2 boys AND THE WIFE (Christ Im mad) tomorrow for the 1st time.

    My life is o.v.e.r
  • Come on everyone, it's the 1st game of the season tomorrow lets give ALL of them our support.

    You're a cynic : - )

It's only spin if you don't agree with what someone says. If you do then it's being open and honest.

I don't doubt that he's gone to the board and asked for more money. What I DO doubt, is that he did it "for the fans" - he did it because he thinks he's got a couple of holes in the squad and wants to succeed in his job as manager.

Top post, roll on tomorrow !
  • I nevr liked pards first in his first season at west ham but to his credit he really turned it round and i found him to be a very good manager and to be honest better than what replaced him. Give him a chance to show it this year and by that i dont mean singing pards out after the first defeat. Get behind him and the team and you will see they will perform better. There's a very good season on its way if everyone pulls in the same direction

    yeah totally agree

And Uncle, top marks for your post - as you say, that 2nd Championship season at West Ham turned it right round, most of the Billy Big Boll*x had been moved on, and Pards had a tight, hungry squad that eventually did the business (no doubt ably assisted by the performance of West Ham Lass, lol).

The situation is remarkably similar here at Charlton. Let's take on board what Uncle is telling us.
