Find that one strange myself, god knows why the bookies and 442 and rating Palace so highly, as I can't see where the goals are coming from.
They feel sorry for Tangoman and felt they had to do something to cheer him up
best we can hope for is a top-half finish.
;o)
i am just glowing on the air of charlton i cant wait for shelvey, racon crab man, moots, JT, Varney, elliot to have pucker seasons and then the older ones chip in as well its gonna happen oggs it is gonna happen
;o)
West Brom were a good shout last year to win the league, but you'd have got long odds against Bristol City, Hull, Stoke etc challenging them. Last year the best team won the division while the teams around them had a great team spirit, but few stars. Reading and Birmingham are good sides, but both have lost a number of decent players and will have to regroup a bit. Think to when we got relegated a decade or so ago - other than Danny Mills going the squad virtually stayed the same. That doesn't happen these days.
This year the division could be just as open as last season and if we can develop a good team spirit then I see no reason why we shouldn't be up there.
Presume it was written before the sale of Bougherra etc ('The squad may not have changed much...'), although I'm not pinning too many hopes on Chris 'Dickinson'.

Manager Alan Pardew
ONES TO WATCH Andy Gray and Luke Varney up front could potentially be a very good partnership at this level. Apart from them, it will be interesting to see how Chris Dickinson does.
BOO-BOYS Midfielders Jerome Thomas and Darren Ambrose could take some stick unless they pull their socks up and really get stuck in.
The squad may not have changed much and we're still badly lacking in central midfield, but the teams that came down don't look particularly good, so that gives us some hope. The vast majority of fans really want Alan Pardew to do well for us as he's a former player and a decent man. I'm just not sure about his tactical nous or ability to raise the confidence of the players, and it was these two factors which cost us dearly last year.
WE'LL FINISH 4th.
GOING UP Reading, Birmingham and Wolves.
GOING DOWN Crystal Palace, Doncaster and Swansea.

I dunno what you're on mate, but can you share it around the forum a bit? I don't reckon we're going to win the league, in fact I think it's likely we won't get promoted, but I am looking forward to seeing the youth break through this year. They may be a bit lightweight, they may be inexperienced, and they won't play every game, but this is their big chance to shine.
i have gone to my bookie pal and he has given me 16's that we wont go up and 25's that we wont win the league and i am parting with my hard earned to the amount of 50 squid
Jon jo to hit dble figures this season
my main concern is varney & gray i dont rate either i am hoping for a toddy and dicko combi

The failure to challenge convincingly last season means that Alan Pardew’s position has inevitably come under scrutiny and a summer spent trimming budgets has done little to enhance the manager’s prospects of steering the club back into the Premier League before the loss of the relegation parachute payments next summer. Madjid Bougherra became the ninth senior professional to leave the club when he joined Rangers for £2.5 million last week and, ominously, Pardew has so far managed to recruit only Mark Hudson, the Crystal Palace central defender, and Stuart Fleetwood, the forward signed from non-league Forest Green Rovers.
Predicted final position: 16
My opinion is that it is vital we stabilise and increase our finacial situation by raising funds through player sales.
However we have to have worthy replacments for these departures and that is where i feel we shall ever strick gold with the numurous young players and determined non-league wannabez or suffer with a lack of experience and polish quality. Hopefully Mr. Pardew (who i have the fullest faith in) will be willing to spend at least £500,000 on two 1/4 million players in defence and middfield, we should also give players such as Basey, Dickson and Co the chance to show their colours and prove their worth if not i believe the Times maybe correct.
how do you my fellow Charlton supporters think our side will get on this season?
Or you can wake me up right now........
