Shirt Launch Day - No Names, No Numbers......

edited August 2008 in General Charlton
No brains. They haven't got the printing machine to do the names and numbers until the end of next week .

Whoever runs the club superstore should be sacked, it's just embaressing, year after year and they never get it right.

If you can't do it properly on the shirt launch day, DON'T BLOODY DO IT!!

Get Faye in there printing some shirts next week and earn his money!

  • agreed my son went in the store inbexleyheath got the kit but no names.
  • I am not being negative on this one......No way. Am sure there is a good reason.
  • They have no concept of how to make a pound note down there. It's a constant cock up.

The people down there are friendly enough but then when you see kids shorts are priced at £18 each, and I have 2 boys, you think poke it up your arse until you get your act together. . . . I won't be holding my breath!

The boys finished their 1st week at the community scheme. That is run very professionally and the coaches deserve much praise. I drove straight from that today to the club shop and it's just depressingly familiar and now bloody boring/annoying.

  • No thanks, I've had my total fill of it.

It was only the fact I had 2 young kids giving me the sad eyes that I bought them the tops.

It will never change down there.

I presume Michael Rea also chose the design of the kit.

    Cynical moi? lol
  • If you are calling for the guy to be sacked and saying what he does is a "constant cock up" at least say it to him straight and not behind his back on a message board.
  • Our business has had dealings with him and unfortunately falconwood you are spot on.

This is a public message board. I put it here as its all a waste of time.

    It *is*a constant cock up.

I could bore you sh*tless with the hassle I've had over the past 3 seasons. I even rang Peter Varney's PA and left a message with my compaints 2 years back and didnt get a reply (that was after spending over £100 in the shop).

So its like everything else down there you just give up and lose the will to live.

And I emphasis the point of how *professional* the community scheme is run.

    They couldnt be further apart.
  • didn't they nearly sell out of shirts today at The Valley?

I mean what a cock up
  • Thank you Rothko, on time as usual.

If we waited to release the shirt till the squad numbers were ready people would moan about the delay in the shirt being available to take on their holidays and others will moan even more if they get someone on their shirt who gets sold a week later. I reckon there's still a few changes to be seen in the next week and then some may be glad the club took a restrained approach.

but from a business point of view rothko wouldn't you ensure the name and numbering machine was working because the fee they do charge for the service is a massive and i mean massive money earner.I dont say this to start a argument but the reveue lost would be quite considerable and i would imagine the profit from this day alone would have paid most of the shop assitants wages for the entire month.I know what a mark up they make so from a business point of view I would expect Mr Waggott to ask the question when the opportunity to make a lot of money on our kit launch day why was the machine not working or why wasnt there any numbers or letters.

I agree with your point Mart that it can be a no win situation but when you are told that they had to borrow a printing machine from the training ground (I presume that was for the pre-orders) it just reeks of amateur night.

I've said this before I'm willing to be ripped off! but not if you're not going to put some effort in and get it right.

I reckon that if your spending good money on kits that's not too much to ask for. As I keep pointing out there are other parts of the club that is excellent but the club shop has never improved.

Incidentally they have more than enough tops left down there.

It was never like this when Chris Tugwell was in charge.

Fair point and if the shop can improve then let them know.

but as I said if some one should be sacked then e-mail them or at least Steve Waggott and say that so they can either write out his p45 or say why not.
  • Steve, aren't all numbers and letters supplied by one company, who also happen to supply the machines to all 92 clubs? Couldn't this be a supplier problem rather the club?
  • Rothko read the post mate

"they had to borrow a printing machine from the training ground "

They didn't even have a printing machine there.

    Well planned launch day eh.

"Fair point and if the shop can improve then let them know"

Henry, you dont understand mate. I ran around after the club and made numerous phone calls two years previously on a cock up with the kits. I rang the club to speak to somebody. No reply.

What makes you think I'm going to waste my time *again*.

Isn't it meant to be a *professional* football club/business?

They can't even take money (£100+) I'm willing to spend with them.

And you want me to spend more of my time complaining as to why their business won't take my money?????

    No wonder we're bloody skint.
  • When I got my shirt at Bexleyheath today a lady wanted tickets for Swansea. The guy said they couldn't sell as they had technical issues at Bexleyheath (for a few days). She was not a regular and instead of him telling her she could order on line/ at the Valley /phone - he just let her walk. This after she said how stupid that she couldn't buy 4 tickets! Another punter gone and £60 quid out the window.
  • what happened to the printing machine they had there last season?

You seem happy to "waste your time" slagging an individual and the club off on here, rightly or wrongly, but you will not give that person the opportunity to respond directly to your attacks.

You've got his e-mail. It would take you a matter of seconds to cut and paste it to him.
  • I think its more than reasonable for falconwood to come on this board and have a moan about what he consders to be poor service and wasted opportunities to earn money by the club. We are all fans and this is an ideal forum for us to discuss the issue. Whats the problem with that ?

Henry, you're not reading my posts.

I've done this 2 years ago.

    Nothing happened.

And don't be under any misapprehension that this is another fan lost, unfortunately for me I'll be back at the head of the queue with my £100 at the next kit launch.

Like these posts, what happens regarding the kits just gets *very* boring.

    Thanks for your replies though.

PS: Lets just pray that the 'Cabrini' logo doesn't peel off eh

there are hundreds of busineess's selling these machines we are not a premier club anymore and therefore are not tied up with their supplier or shouldn't be.Go and get your own numbers and letters made up no problem
  • I though the league had it's own supplier (Chirs Kay I think) and all used one set of letters and numbers.
  • so then you have a kit launch and pre-order them its not rocket science what ever the reasons chaps the money lost will be big because i was going to pay for joe to have shelvey on his shirt in the official letters, now i will do it myself.

Having a moan and discussing is one thing, calling for someone to be sacked if something entirely different.

I've read all your posts and fully understood them. You should, IMHO, have the courage of your convictions and tell the guy to his face or at least his e-mail.
  • Henry IMHO I think you are off beam with this one. The Valley Superstore is a shop. A commercial retail outlet. The fact that it belongs to and sells all things Charlton makes no difference. falconwood has every right to moan as much as he likes without confronting the man he considers incompetent. That is entirely up to him.

And I repeat he is not just moaning but calling for that person to be sacked on a forum read by a number of the persons colleagues and employers (eg the directors of CAFC not including me).

That it is the Charlton shop is directly relevant.

I had an email, a very polite and considered email, a few weeks ago from an ex ST holder who I have met a few times asking why the club had made not attempt to market STs or match tickets to him despite him being a red card member and having purchased match tickets on many occasions last year.

He pointed out that he saw this as a missed opportunity and asked for a response. He didn't start by calling for sackings or describing people as incompetent.

I wonder what sort of reaction such an email would have got on here.
  • Make your reasoning wrong again. When any customer to any shop considers that the service they get is less than what they hoped for or expect they have every right to complain to whom and whoever they wish to. in any way they wish. The fact is, The Superstore has customers that don`t want to vote with their feet and take their custom elsewhere. I would also suggest that the example you give above is hardly comparable to falcons experience. I will now get off to The Valley and allow falconwood to defend himself far better than I ever could.
