Enough to scare the bejesus out of you innit. Perhaps it puts the prudence being shown by our board in perspective. Belt tightening better than going the way of Watford methinks
Despite landing a windfall of £30m for reaching the Premiership, receiving £10m in parachute payments, generating £20m in player sales and £4.25m for the sale of the corners of the ground, Watford are under increasing pressure from the bank to settle a £6m loan and are £2m overdrawn.
There's your answer.
Sure, they're keen like us to trim the wage bill although their debts don't seem excessive - but the key issue, as I see it, is their bank only want to lend to a Premiership club - and in the Championship without Prem income, the bank simply see Watford as a poor risk.
I bet Charlton's bankers feel the same - and that's the reason behind us trying to sell Boogie, and why we've not made significant signings yet this summer.
